Said it was supposed to be programmed or come with the Dorman programming tool. It didn't come with the tool and it's not going into low gears or shifting properly. Spending 60.00 to get programmed at dealership and if that doesn't work the unit is defective.

Where is the transmission shift solenoid located?

The Transmission shift solenoids are located inside the valve body of your automatic transmission. They are integrated into the valve body, and on some car models, you can see them without removing the valve body, while on others, you have to remove the valve body to reach them.

How do you know if your shift solenoid is going out?

You experience delayed gear shifting and a sense of pulling or slipping when trying to shift between gears. The vehicle will not downshift as you slow down. An inability for the solenoid valve to operate may prevent your car from downshifting, and the engine will continue to rev as you attempt to brake.

What happens if shift solenoid goes out?

Inability to downshift/upshift. In many cases, solenoid problems make shifting difficult. Sometimes the transmission will be able to move upward from gear to gear without a problem, but it will be unable to shift back down.

How many transmission solenoids are there?

Of the transmission solenoids, there are three main types: the transmission shift solenoid, the lockup solenoid, and the transmission control solenoid.
