Changing Nissan Key Fob Battery

While changing out your Nissan model’s key fob battery is a straightforward process, it does involve touching sensitive and fragile electronics. To avoid damage to the key fob, make sure to wear a pair of gloves (latex or non-latex substitute). The Nissan key fob uses a CR2032 3V battery. You can usually get a multipack of these for under $5 USD. You’ll also need a small flathead screwdriver.

  • Flip Nissan key fob to back side
  • Move small slider to unlock emergency key
  • Remove emergency key
  • On the top of the key fob, locate open notch between front and back halves of fob
  • Insert flathead screwdriver into notch
  • Turn screwdriver until front and back fob halves separate
  • In the back fob half, locate the dead CR2032 3V battery
  • With the flathead screwdriver, pop out dead battery
  • Insert new CR2032 3V battery + side down
  • Click new battery into place
  • Line up front and back fob halves
  • Squeeze them back together until everything clicks into place
  • Replace emergency key into its slot
  • Move slider back into place to secure emergency key

I got these batteries for my key fob and they worked out just fine. However, I most recently placed an order for a new set and all I did was go back and pull up my previous order to purchase, which I often do and the description mentioned that they were for a different vehicle. I am not sure what happened, I just figured that there was some sort of unintentional issue/error with the updates on the site pertaining to that particular product, but luckily it is the exact same battery according the the information on the back, so I am fine with that. Most of these batteries universally work across all vehicle models unless it indicates a specifically different type of battery#.

I have needed to replace the battery on my fob for a while and then it started working intermittently. Was able to find this gem on Amazon and it was the exact same battery that was already installed. Item came as promised and I am a very happy customer. Now I can remote start my car since it's now getting cold.

This absolutely doesn’t fit the Nissan keys. I’m confused why the reviews all say otherwise. This battery is very obviously too large for the key fob? Maybe I got the wrong item.
