2015 jeep grand cherokee rear shocks

4.0 out of 5 stars Not right fit

Amazon says fits my Grand Cherokee, but strut is too short. I have a 2011 4WD Laredo, 4 wheel ABS with coil springs. The correct factory part number is 68069680AH, but doesn't march to this strut. Parts system shows mine as a w/quadra-lift normal duty shock. You can see the Sensen strut is about 4 inches or so shorter than the factory. I rated it 4 stars, not because of the strut, as I wasn't able to test it, but because the listing is incorrect for my particular vehicle.

I bought these as rear shocks to fit a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I re-used the stock shock towers, which make an assembly with the shock before installation. The nut at the top of the shock requires a pass-through socket so that you can hold the shock rod. Inexplicably, these shocks come with the top of the shock rod machines with just two flat sides. The stock shocks have a hex head for a small 8mm socket. Well, you cannot use a wrench with the pass-through socket! So, I was forced to modify the shock. On a grinder I turned the top of the rod into a square, but lacking a 12 point 1/4 inch drive socket I instead jammed on a 9mm 6 point socket. The trick worked, but it shouldn't be necessary. Otherwise the shocks were adequate.

How often should Jeep shocks be replaced?

Generally, shocks and struts wear out every 50,000-100,000 miles. If you're a more aggressive driver and/or frequently drive on rough roads, they will wear out faster. Shocks and struts don't go out all at once; they deteriorate slowly over time.

How long do shocks last on a Jeep?

Struts and shocks may need to be replaced anywhere between 50k and 100k miles. If at any time the struts or shocks are leaking, broken, or damaged, they should be replaced immediately.
