It's a HDD.

Decent speeds. It's an old HDD I ripped out of a powered external backup drive.

Lasted 5 years so far with no problems, was an external HDD that I shucked. Will be dropped soon, it's slowly dyin.

In addition to 0's it also stores 1's.

It's a hard drive. It does hard drive things. It also happens to do them well.

Does everything you could ask of a HDD

It's a HDD that I already had.

Tons of space, decent loading times. I personally don't notice that much of a loading time difference.

too loud, it's the loudest part of this build, about as loud as the CPU cooler and GPU fan running at 100%

Fast for a HDD but toooooo loud for HTPC, want to switch to a 5600rpm drive. I set it to sleep after 5min idle to minimize how much I have to listen to this drive

Is 7200 rpm HDD better than SSD?

A typical 7200 RPM HDD will deliver a read/write speed of 80-160MB/s. On the other hand, a standard SATA SSD will provide a read/write speed of between 200 MB/s to 550 MB/s. At the same time, an NVMe m. 2 SSD can offer speeds exceeding 5000 MB/s.

Is 7200 rpm for HDD good?

A 7200 RPM hard drive is good for gaming because it can provide faster data access and better performance. However, it is important to note that not all games will benefit from a faster hard drive. Some games may actually run slower on a 7200 RPM hard drive due to the increased seek time.

Is a 7200rpm HDD fast?

Given two identically designed hard drives with the same areal densities, a 7200 RPM drive will deliver data about 33% faster than the 5400 RPM drive. Consequently, this specification is important when evaluating the expected performance of a hard drive or when comparing different HDD models.

Is SATA 3 better than HDD?

A solid state drive with a SATA III connection should achieve around 550MB/s read and 520MB/s write speeds, though some will be faster – but will max out at 600MB/s. So, even with a SATA III connection, which limits the speed of SSDs, you're getting around four times the speed of traditional hard drives.
