6.7 powerstroke oil change cost at dealer

For some, an oil change is like heading to the dentist: inconvenient but necessary.

Today’s newer-tech engines using synthetic oil are engineered to go anywhere from 7,500 to 15,000 miles between oil changes. Thanks to more exacting standards in engine-building technology, the quality of the synthetic oils has improved. And there’s another factor: more than half of today’s new cars have monitoring systems that give you a heads-up when it’s time to change the oil.

Your driving style and needs can also affect how often you need to change your oil. If you just drive around town and put 6,000 miles or so on the odometer every six months, you might change the oil twice a year. If you do a lot of highway or long-distance running or operate your vehicle in sandy or dusty surroundings like the deserts of Nevada or Arizona, you might be a candidate for more frequent changes.

Once upon a time, local service stations and Quick-Lube franchisees recommended changing traditional oil and oil filters every 3,000 miles. That was mostly a marketing ploy. Lately, with the use of synthetic blends and full synthetic oils, owners are now able to push out or extend the vehicle’s oil life further to 10,000 miles or even as much as 15,000 miles.

Regular maintenance won’t just keep your car running well, it’ll help protect your car’s value over time. For more ways to do this, see How to Maintain the Value of Your Car.

Oil change on 6.7L Powerstroke

For those of yall taking your Powerstroke to the Dealer or a proper mechanic shop for an oil change what are you paying? I don't do quick/cheap lube places. I had been going to Goodyear but this week the manager said he bought a 2017 and that they weren't using the Ford "preferred" oil in the past and that going forward they would and it cost me 240 dollars. I agreed to do it to see if it would get me more miles between changes and see if it works out cheaper or the same, was getting 8-9K miles between changes.

Full synthetic? Conventional? Its hard to know if that's reasonable if they don't tell you what your getting.

I do my own oil, and I have found Motorcraft to be the least expensive of the filters. Like all in costs for materials should be under $100 easy depending on what oil you get, and no fuel filter or air filter.

My f350 is about $150 but only if I don't change all the fuel filters, change all the filters $240 sounds right. Use your owners manual and follow its guidelines on both type of oil and filters change frequency!!
It is a $65,000 -75000 truck, maintenance cost should not be a issue! LoL

I run Ford Motorcraft oil and filters in mine. 12 qt of oil and 1 qt of Lucas. A friend who is a Ford Powerstroke mechanic told me those engines were made to run on the Motorcraft oil and that's what I have done. It cost me around $120 or so to do my own.

If you live in the Woodlands, go to Planet Ford. You can get 5 oil changes for $220. Plus they wash your truck. I don't think you can buy the oil for that.

When I lived in Magnolia I was getting it done at Tomball Ford for $55....I had a half price oil change for life deal there. Now that we moved I'm paying about $100. This is for the Rotella blend. I do my own fuel filters.

BTW, Ford is not recognizing the new CK-4 rating of most diesel oils as an approved oil for its diesel engines.

It's a buzz in the powerstoke forums.

Here is the list of the current approved oils -

//www.lubritecinc.com/PDF/diese...71F1.pdf?euid=[[eui0]

Their reason why-

//jobbersworldblog.files.wordp...-statement.pdf

If your truck is under warranty, this might come back to haunt if not using an oil off the list.

Looks like I'm going to switch over to Motorcraft even though my warranty has long been gone.

Not sure, never kept a truck till it needed an oil change, usually trade them off before then.

Not calling your buddy a "liar", but can he explain how an engine is designed to run on a particular brand of oil? I hear that a lot and feel that 99.9999% of the time it's because people don't know any better. Motorcraft offers various grades of Diesel oil (except synthetic). Ford (and all other vehicle manufacturers) does not own a refinery so another company makes their branded lubricants. For the record, I use Rotella T6 and a Motorcraft Filter on my 6.7 and change oil between 5-6k miles. I'd go longer, but she tows heavy sometimes. I did have it changed at the dealer Quick Lane at 1,500 miles and had them use Motorcraft Synthetic Diesel oil and it cost ~$240 at that time. That was the last time anyone but me has touched her and she has 42K miles now.

So do you put any merit in the new CK-4 rating that the Rotella T-6 and others carry vs the old CJ-4 they were until the end of last year?
(government supposedly made the oil folks reformulate to burn cleaner- it has less phosphorus than it used to- it's not the same oil it once was)
I'll admit I know little on the subject, just regurgitating what I've read elsewhere.

Yeah no doubt, supposedly ford will have egg on face when this is over, but for now some of the old oil standards are not on their list.

Knowing our government and the ethanol mess I'm kinda curious if Ford might actually be looking out for the consumer on this one.

Trust the government to make it better..........yeah right.

Wow, did not even realize these new ratings went into effect! I will definitely need to read up on these. Guess I need to frequent the diesel stop forums again.....

When I had my company truck it was right at $200 for synthetic oil, filter, air, both fuel and a tank of def.

Only reason I ran synthetic is I was going to buy it when the company traded it in but i got layed off before that happened. Somebody got a hell of a truck at auction because i babied that thing like I owned it.

its not necessarily that a vehicle is designed to run off a specific lube, it's the fact that the manufacturer has tested and tested and re-tested the engineering of the vehicle with a specific lube and then they have the liability of warrantying the vehicle based on that specific lube and the specs of that particular lube. I work in the shipping business and we have major contracts with Shell, exxon, Ineos, Chevron etc to move these lubes globally on our ships and you would be shocked at the tolerance/spec levels they require and this is all driven by the warranty/liabilities that each of the manufacturers have to stand behind. for many people oil is oil is oil but its not.

How much does a f350 diesel oil change cost?

Ford F-350 Super Duty Oil Change Cost Estimate. The average cost for a Ford F-350 Super Duty oil change is between $243 and $266. Labor costs are estimated between $41 and $52 while parts are priced between $202 and $214.

How often does a 6.7 Powerstroke need an oil change?

The 6.7L Powerstroke diesel engine should have an oil change interval of 10,000 miles or as indicated by the Intelligent Oil Life Monitor system. This system will change the interval based on driving conditions, so your interval could be sooner depending on how you drive your truck.

How much does it cost to change oil in a diesel truck?

Depending on where you get your oil changed, if you change your oil yourself, and if your engine needs additional repairs, the cost of your semi truck's oil change will vary. However, it will usually cost between $200 to $425.

What oil does Ford recommend for 6.7 Powerstroke?

We recommend Motorcraft motor oil for your vehicle. If Motorcraft motor oil is not available, use motor oil of the recommended viscosity grade that meets our specification WSS-M2C171-F1.
