Cedar falls garbage pickup schedule 2023

When you need to dispose of larger items like appliances or furniture, the Cedar Rapids Solid Waste & Recycling Division can schedule a special pick-up.

Bulky item collection can only be scheduled during normal business hours. Please call at least one business day prior to your garbage collection day to schedule collection.

The fee for this service will be added to your next utility bill. Costs vary depending on the size and type of item. Prices are subject to change.

Fiscal Year 2023 Fees (July 1, 2022–June 30, 2023)

The Cedar Rapids/Linn County Solid Waste Agency accepts appliances, metal, electronics, needles and recycling at only the Marion location (1954 County Home Road).

2022 Holiday Collection Delays

We delay trash and recycling collection in observance of some holidays. Service will be delayed by one day on holidays listed below. 

Memorial Day

Thanksgiving

• Thursday, November 24, 2022

There will be no service delay on any holidays not listed here.

Garbage Pick Up—Friday

1. Remember to put the trash out for Friday garbage pickup!

   Refuse & Yard Waste Collection Guidelines: Garbage / yard waste must be in the cart with the lid closed completely. Bag all garbage before putting in cart. Do Not over fill your cart. (250 lb limit) Cart must be at curbside/alley by 7 am on your collection day. Face carts toward street. Arrows on the lid should point toward the street or alley. Leave 4' between others carts or objects. Bring cart in by 8 pm on collection day. Excess Garbage: Bag Tags can be purchased for garbage that does not fit inside the cart. Extra bag on cart as shown in the picture requires a tag ($1.25). You are allowed to place one bag with an attached tag on top of the closed lid of your cart for pick up. Excess garbage can also be brought to the Transfer Station at 15th and State Street. Location: Find a trouble free location for the cart, preferably on a level surface at the street or alley line and not directly under low hanging overhead wires. Do not place carts on top of snow piles.
