Using a carbon fiber and alloy spider and five titanium sprockets, the DURA-ACE R9100 cassette provides accurate shifting and light weight to the most discerning road cyclists on the planet.

    The Dura-Ace CS-7900 10-speed cassette by Shimano - weight-optimised and torsion-resistant

    In the Shimano CS-7900 Dura-Ace cassette, the four largest sprockets are made of titanium to reduce weight and increase stiffness. The two lightweight metal carrier stars also reduce weight and offer high torsional strength. You can also use the CS-7900 cassette on 11-speed Road freewheels if you additionally use a 1.85 mm spacer. For 8 to 10-speed Road/MTB freewheels, the 1 mm spacer supplied is sufficient.

    Shimano Hyperglide cassettes (HG cassettes) have strategically-positioned ramps and special tooth profiles so that the chain can be completely guided directly onto the next sprocket. This prevents the chain from just touching the tips of the teeth before it actually touches down. This optimises the chain guide and enables fast, highly efficient shifting.

    Are Shimano 10 and 11 speed compatibility?

    A 10-speed Shimano or SRAM cassette can still be fitted to an 11-speed body, but a spacer will be required to make up for the difference in width. There is another, more subtle, incompatibility that affects different brands of hubs and wheels, but it will only have an impact on those riders using multiple wheelsets.

    Do 11 speed cassettes fit on 10 speed hubs?

    For nearly 20 years, the same Shimano-compatible rear wheel could utilize most any Shimano-standard 8, 9, or 10-speed cassette. However, recently, Shimano introduced 11-speed drivetrains. And, while these components work well, the new 11-speed cassettes won't fit on these older 8/9/10-speed rear wheels.

    Are Shimano 10 and 11 speed hubs compatible?

    It will shift fine with a Shimano or SRAM 11-speed system. And in case any of you were wondering, if you have a 10-speed Shimano or SRAM system and buy a wheelset now, you can still run 10-speed cogs on that wheel. To put a 10-speed cogset on an 11-speed freehub, you just put a spacer behind the largest cog.

    Are all Shimano 10 speed cassettes compatible?

    All Shimano and SRAM cassettes up to 10 speed are broadly compatible. They all use Shimano's Hyperglide II freehub body spline pattern. Cassettes with the same number of sprockets have the same sprocket spacing, sprocket width and overall width.
