Nice combo smoke & CO detector

I finally replaced my ancient (long past their life) smoke alarms. I had ionization alarms and did some research that showed me that I should now move to photoelectric detectors (see the recommendations of the IAFF). This model is nice because it includes both a photoelectric smoke detector as well as a CO detector in one small package. BTW, I only had one CO detector which is also way past its lifetime. Unlike some other models that have different beeps for smoke vs. CO alarms, this model has spoken voice announcements detailing what kind of alert is being sounded. The alarms are interconnected and therefore one alarm sounds all the alarms. Each alarm can be programmed with a location (e.g., basement, family room, hallway). However, when I press the test button, only the one that I'm testing states where the alarm is taking place (e.g., high CO in basement). The other alarms go off and say that there is a CO alarm but not where. Its not really a big deal because regardless of where the alarm occurs you should get out of the house. Its a nit but .... Otherwise, the hardest part about installing these was figuring out which breaker the old alarms were connected to so I didn't have to shut down the entire house. Three wires are all that's needed - hot, neutral, and interconnect. Read full review

Good if you like AA battery backup of a Smoke + CO alarm, otherwise it's just another OK alarm.

I promote and applaud all the hardwired smoke alarm models that use AA battery backup vs. 9v (like this one). Seems more Smoke + Carbon Monoxide models use AA backup, than strictly Smoke models. Unfortunately, it seems the trend toward use of AA alkaline or optionally AA lithium batteries has not taken hold as much as sealed non-hardwired alarms that claim 10 year service life, but rarely come close to that (by my experience).

  • Smoke alarm

Use it for a month now. Had no problem with installation. Works as expected. No false alarm sounded.

  • Works like a charm

The connector was different but I was able to secure an adapter. Other than that it was an easy swap! Push buttons and tested devices. The constant green light is also not bright which is nice.

Why is my First Alert carbon monoxide detector beeping?

1 Beep Every Minute: Low Battery. It is time to replace the batteries in your carbon monoxide detector. 5 Beeps Every Minute: End of Life. This type of chirp indicates it is time to replace your carbon monoxide alarm.

Why does my First Alert smoke and carbon monoxide detector keep going off?

Check for bugs, debris, or dust in the sensing chamber. The inside of the alarm might have been triggered by hidden dust, dirt, or spiderwebs. Regular cleaning prevents most nuisance alarms. Clean the detector with a can of compressed air and your vacuum's soft brush attachment, and reinstall the alarm.

How do I stop my First Alert smoke alarm from beeping?

Clear Residual Charge to Stop the Chirp Open the cover and take out the battery. Press and hold the test button for 15-30 seconds. This will fully reset the smoke alarm and drain any charge left inside.

Why does my smoke and carbon monoxide alarm keep beeping?

Here's a simple guide: Smoke alarms alert you with three beeps in a row. Carbon monoxide alarms alert you with four beeps. A single chirp means the battery is low or the detector should be replaced.
