Good molecules discoloration correcting serum review reddit

Is the Discoloration Correcting Serum from Good Molecules good for hyperpigmentation? I'm going to really try to stop picking at my chest (a little over a week clean so far! 🎉) and my skin itself is pretty smooth right now, but I have some pretty horrid dark spots on my chest that I'd like to fade as quickly as I can. That product popped up for me online and it isn't terribly expensive so if it might help me out, I'd love to try it but I know nothing about what makes skincare good or not. Thanks all :)

I have oily-combo skin that I think might be a touch dehydrated (I’m having a hard time telling with my oil-prone skin). I’m trying to treat some spots of discoloration on my cheeks, and I was gifted this serum. I know there are some bad combos with acids and retinols, and I’ve heard it can be prone to pilling. Current routine is:

Morning:

Cerave Hydrating Cleanser

The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid

The Ordinary Niacinamide + Zinc

Good Molecules Yerba Mate Wake Up Eye Gel

Byoma Moisturizing Gel-Cream

La Roche-Posay Anthelios Mineral SPF 50 Sunscreen

Night:

Banila Co Clean It Zero Cleansing Balm

Cerave Foaming Cleanser

The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid
The Ordinary Niacinamide + Zinc
Good Molecules Yerba Mate Wake Up Eye Gel
Byoma Moisturizing Gel-Cream

2x week Tretinoin .05% after moisturizer

2x week Paula’s Choice 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant after cleansing

Some additional questions/thoughts:

I’m thinking about reducing the tretinoin to 1x per week, as I don’t get a lot of active acne anymore (I’ve been on 50mg Spironolactone 2x day for over a year and it really helped after switching my birth control).

Wondering if using one serum that has both hyaluronic acid and niacinamide instead of two separate serums is a good idea to streamline my routine a bit (e.g. Byoma Brightening Serum).

Thanks for your help!

My previous niacinamide serum was The Ordinary 10% Niacinamide + Zinc, which I used by combining with the COSRX 96 Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence.

Does it matter whether I combine it with another product? I've tried multiple times to apply it on its own, but it has a soapy consistency and I find it tugs on my skin a little if I'm sticking to 3 drops on my face. On the other hand, it's much more comfortable when mixed with the snail essence, but I'm concerned there may not be an even application.

Any thoughts?

Last year (June 2021) I was breaking out a lot and suffered from post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. I was using the TIAM Vita B3 serum (contains both niacinamide and alpha arbutin) to help fade the dark spots and even out my skin. It did help but I still had some really stubborn dark spots till Dec 21. I bought the good molecules discoloration correcting serum in Jan 22 and let me tell you,all my acne scars and dark spots cleared in just 5 weeks. It's a holy grail for me for sure.

The key is to stay consistent though ;) I was using it every day in my night time skincare routine.

Would definitely recommend!
