Online

Book online to secure the cheapest bus tickets. You can pay online or in person once you have made your online booking.

Choose from the following ticket types:

  • Economy: This is the cheapest fare, yet you can still benefit from perks like: free Wi-Fi, power sockets, leg room, one checked bag and one carry-on bag FREE.
  • Economy Extra: Get all the above PLUS be the first to board and choose seats with Priority Boarding. If your plans change, you can also do a same-day exchange on your tickets (conditions apply).
  • Flexible: With a flexible ticket, you’ll score all of the above, except you’ll get two FREE checked bags rather than one, and you can change your ticket before the travel date with NO fees or get a refund if you need (and are eligible).

Terminal booking

Pre-booking Greyhound bus tickets online is the safest and most affordable option; however, tickets are also available at the Greyhound terminals.

The Economy, Economy Extra and Flexible ticket options are still available when booking from the bus terminals, but the Flexible option won’t get you an extra piece of checked baggage.

Travelling can be unpredictable. If you need the flexibility to change your fare for any reason, you’ll need to purchase the correct ticket type, check the bus schedule and change your dates before the date of travel.

If you bought a Flexible ticket you can get a full refund or exchange your ticket for a different date or time for FREE as long as you do this before the date of travel!

If you bought any of the other ticket types, you can change your ticket for a $20 fee but unfortunately there are no refunds for change of mind or circumstance.

When changing your ticket, please note:

  • You cannot change the destination of your ticket but you can change the date and time
  • Amended trips need to fall within a year of the date you bought your original trip
  • You’ll need to make your travel exchange before the date of your booked trip

Greyhound BusTracker

What makes Greyhound buses such a convenient travel provider is their unparalleled customer service, easy-to-navigate bus schedules and the Greyhound BusTracker.

The Greyhound BusTracker gives you an up-to-date, real-time status on where your bus is, and compares it to the bus schedule. If there is traffic, unexpected weather conditions or accidents on the road, you’ll be the first to know!

Road Rewards works on a points system in order to reward repeat customers. After signing up, you’ll earn 2 points for each round trip you take (or 6 points if you choose the Flexible fare option) then once you hit certain point levels, you unlock new rewards; too easy!

If you accumulate points, you’ll score the following rewards:

  • 10 points: You’ll get 20% off your ticket and a companion pass.

The more points you get, the more rewards you’ll accumulate, and points are valid for a whole year.

All you have to do is sign up using the Greyhound Lines online registration form and you’ll start collecting points immediately! You can only start collecting points on new trips, so the sooner you sign up, the better.

Top boarding tips for Greyhound buses

👉 Finding your stop

Booked your ticket? Start your trip by finding your bus stop using this handy bus stop finder.

👉 Before your trip

Aim to arrive at your stop at least 20 mins prior to the time your trip is due to depart. Check that your baggage isn’t over limit by reading the baggage allowance guidelines.

Ensure you have your ticket ready when boarding.

👉 On your trip

Most Greyhound bus trips will have at least one rest stop (depending on the length of the trip), where you’ll be able to get out, stretch your legs, use the restroom and/or purchase food and beverages. Remember to bring small change in case the bus stops at a smaller rest stop or store. We also recommend stocking up on supplies before you leave for your trip, as there are no beverages or food options available on the bus itself.

Greyhound provides affordable and safe travel for all. Greyhound buses have received the highest possible safety rating from the Department of Transportation each year for over 10 years. The Greyhound bus drivers go through rigorous training and Greyhound buses are checked regularly and before each trip to ensure safety compliance.

Does the Greyhound check your bags?

Greyhound allows you to bring one carry-on bag and up to two checked bags with each adult ticket purchase. Your carry-on and checked bag will be included in the price of the ticket.

What does economy extra mean on Greyhound?

Economy Extra. Flexible. Always the cheapest fare but still gives you all the onboard perks like free Wi-Fi, power sockets and lots of leg room. Be first in line to board and choose your seat. You can even hop on an earlier bus if there's room on the day.

What is the best seat on a Greyhound bus?

Sit at the front. You'll have a better chance of having two seats all to yourself, since everyone else will, undoubtedly, be heading towards the back of the bus. Personally, I prefer the front because it makes me feel more safe to be closer to the driver.

How many bags can I take on Greyhound?

Bring 1 carry on bag on the bus with you and store up to 3 bags under the bus. 1st under the bus bag is free, 2nd one is free with our Flexible fare, or 2nd & 3rd $20 each with all other fares. Each bag stored under the bus must be appropriately tagged.
