🥘 Ingredients
I used BBQ chicken seasoning for my baked chicken wings this go around, but Cajun seasoning or any other chicken seasoning would be equally delicious! You can easily control the heat level with your choice of seasoning and wing sauce.
- Chicken Wings - 2 pounds of wings, separated and tips removed if desired.
- Vegetable Oil - 1 tablespoon vegetable or cooking oil (with a high smoke point).
- BBQ Chicken Seasoning - 1 tablespoon of BBQ chicken rub, regular chicken seasoning, or Cajun seasoning.
- Chicken Wing Sauce - 3 tablespoons.
- Parsley (optional) - 2 tablespoons of chopped parsley for garnish.

🔪 How To Make Oven Baked Chicken Wings
Be sure to get the wings as dry as you can before seasoning them so they will bake up extra crispy! You will need a rimmed baking sheet, metal roasting rack (*see note), and a large bowl.
- Prep. Start with preheating your oven to 400°F (205°C). Grab a rimmed baking sheet and place a metal roasting rack on top.
- Season. Using paper towels, pat 2 pounds of chicken wings dry. Place them in a large bowl with 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil and toss to coat. Then, season them with 1 tablespoon of BBQ chicken seasoning (or your preferred seasoning) and toss to coat once more.
Bake, Toss in Wing Sauce & Serve
- Bake. Place the prepared wings on top of the roasting rack with enough room between them for air to circulate. Bake until golden and crispy, about 45-50 minutes.
- Add sauce and serve. Once your wings are cooked and crispy, place them in a large bowl with 3 tablespoons of wing sauce and toss to coat. Garnish with 2 tablespoons of chopped parsley if desired, and serve.
You can always offer the classic sliced carrots and celery with your baked chicken wings if you are serving them as an appetizer. If you want to make a meal out of them, try some french fries or a wedge salad! Enjoy!
💭 Angela's Tips & Recipe Notes
- Any of your favorite dipping sauces would be delicious with these wings. Ranch, blue cheese, Caesar, or honey mustard would all be tasty!
- You can use a wire cooling rack in place of a metal roasting rack, but if you don't have either you can still make baked wings. They may be a tad less crispybut they will still be delicious.
- Storing: Store leftover baked chicken wings refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
- Reheating: To reheat, spread your wings in a single layer on a baking sheet. Pop them into an oven preheated to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 10-20 minutes or until they have an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
