Haikey Creek Park

Vast county park boasting picnic area & playgrounds, plus an 18-hole championship disc golf course.

Slide 1 of 5

Located in Bixby, Haikey Creek Park maintains 151 acres with picnic shelters, grills, new playground equipment (ADA accessible), restrooms, a jogging path, fitness court, disc golf course, 3 lighted softball fields, 4 lighted tennis courts and 4 soccer fields. Call for more information about youth and adult activities at the park.

The Facts: In addition to a gentle trail that takes visitors through a grove of native pecan trees, Haikey Creek Park also has a 18-hole disc golf course, picnic areas, playgrounds, and other amenities.

This place has a great walking path. It is very fine chat (cinder?) and I find it very easy on the feet. I go out of my way to walk at this park. It also seems hugely popular for frisbee golf and dog walking.

Very pretty. Nice hiking. Lots of birds and animals to see. Some water features that you could walk down to. Overall it was a very enjoyable day I had at this area. Saw some people with dogs so you can walk them there. And there are some people picnicking by the creek.

Very nice park; several areas worth at least two separate playground, lots of pavilions, a Disc Golf Course, walking trails, etc. Absolutely the cleanest and best smelling restroom I have ever seen in a public park.

Great Family Fun, Well worth the entertainment. Halloween being my birthday & Anniversary. It was a great time spending All Hallows Eve there. Will return again.

Santa was there!!!!!! Lots of lights and blow ups in the drive through portion. Very enjoyable. Be sure to tune your radio to FM87.9 for your drive. The inside was weak with nothing really to do. The torture chamber was available but we didn’t go because it doesn’t support a Christmas theme, now does it? We did the train ride but would recommend the hay ride instead. The fumes coming off the train engine was super strong and the music/horn were not enjoyable.

We really injoyed the drive through The Castle. The first part were light displays simular to Denison TX( Loy lake park) or Ardmore OK. Then you get into the Castle. It was mostly inflatables but you can't imagine how many it's amazing that they don't blow away in Oklahoma, I bet it's a challenge. Over all it was super cool and well worth a drive especially when paired with the garden of lights a couple blocks away. I believe there is also a walk through section we did not do because it was windy and cool. We went on a Monday night there were others there but there was no wait.

Robbers Cave State Park

Scenic park with lodging, campgrounds & nature center plus trails, swimming & outdoor recreation.

Slide 1 of 3

I couldn't have planned a more perfect mini vacation on such short notice! We loved everything about Robbers Cave State Park. Our cabin was so freaking adorable! Originally I only booked a one night stay, but after that day, we just *had* to have more time there and we were lucky enough to be able to extend our stay for one more night! The dam/waterfall was gorgeous. The lake was beautiful. Everything about this place was amazing!! I would HIGHLY recommend Robbers Cave State Park!! We visited the nature center, Robbers Cave, and we rode horses at Robbers Cave Stables. I cannot praise this state park enough! We loved it so much!

I love this place and the cabins are amazing! If you get the speciality cabins they have fireplaces but no pets are allowed. It's a really beautiful park in the San Bois mountains. There's several trails, a lake, etc. It's worth the trip. If you need various items, they have a cute market on site. It's great for families.

Stayed in the little cabins way up the hill. Was beautifully well done, peaceful and plenty of hiking trails. The robbers cave was very cool hiked all over it.

Delicious sandwiches. Had the prime rib and hubby had a brisket sandwich. If I lived here I would be here once a week for a sandwich. Probably one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. They also carry homemade cheeses which looked delicious and all kinds of specialty foods.

Friendly welcome and very inviting. No pressuring and there's a lot of every little thing for such a small shop. There is also a hot deli in the back. The sandwiches are amazingly scrumptious! My favorite was the one with Brisket and had a sweet savory BBQ sauce on toasted flat bread. Then following the muffuleta. Both sandwiches are different from eachother but also very tasting! They have a variety of cheeses too and even some that were made from them! Shop also sells pre-made Italian meals that you can make it at home. The aroma from the food smells yummy and take your time to look around for spices, snacks, groceries, and anything you would like to add to your kitchen flavors. I am definitely going back again when I'm in town. Also, you can purchase non-hot food items with your EBT card.

I have never been here but I had to reorder an excellent spice here that dad had purchased A VERY LONG TIME AGO. It was still very good being so out of date. I plan on ordering lot more because I use it on my roasted asparagus and roasted broccoli. It tastes so good.

Choctaw Casino & Resort-Durant

Swanky casino hotel offering a conference center, plus outdoor pools, a spa, dining & entertainment.

Slide 1 of 3

The rooms were spacious and clean. Plenty of supplies in the room. Nice restaurants to choose from. We spent most of our time at the event center, which was why we were there, and it was a great space as well! I didn't realize there was a non-smoking area so that would have been nice to know. We stopped by the family area and it was very busy but glad to see it was non-smoking. Everyone looked like they were having fun. We will definitely be going back when we can enjoy the pool areas.

Had a great experience with a recent stay. Nice room in the Sky Tower. Casino host was great help in getting some comps. Dining at the 1832 Steakhouse was very relaxing with good service and food prepared to our wishes. Played blackjack and won, but still do not like the "ante". Good variety of slots - and did not experience much difficulty with card readers for once - but one machine did eat my players card. Still get lost in the machines in the Sky Tower. Overall satisfying experience.

I was seriously impressed with this place. There is something to do for every age. I attended a conference, and the food was good, employees friendly, and the place is huge. The rooms in Spa tower are very nice. I appreciated having a small hallway, off of the main floor hallway, lead to each hotel room. This made the rooms very quiet. The casino was very smoky, but the hallways and rooms smelled fresh. I will definitely return.

Frank Buck Zoo

Zoos & Aquariums

Animal park

Small city zoo featuring African savannah animals, flamingo-feeding sessions & a gift shop.

Slide 1 of 3

This is a small zoo named after a famous explorer. You can walk around the whole zoo in about 45min. Even tho it is a small zoo it feels bigger than it really is. Priced inexpensive for family budgeting! I like the fact you get a wrist band to wear all day because if you want to have picnic in park or eat nearby you can come back same day. Altho the lady in front didn't like us slipping in to look at 1 animal on end at 15min til closing. This zoo is short staffed and the trains dont run anymore. It wasn't too crowded on a weekend which made it is nice!

Visited this place 4 years ago and again a couple days ago. Kid enjoyed the goat petting area. Has a nice deck at the entrance to enjoy your food watching the Flamingos. It's economical and well maintained.

Very small zoo. Hardly any animals. It's still a nice place to venture out with your family. They also have a park located right out in front of it, which was really nice for the kids. Definitely could have been better, but this is coming from someone who regularly goes to Dallas and FW Zoos.

This is one of the best state park I have seen. It is a perfect place for a day trip. You can play in the water and sand, it is very beautiful. The waves are not very big. People will come here With family and friends and prepare their own food in the barbecue area. The north side of the lake was filled with Kite surfing professionals. The wind in the north side was heavy, so it is the perfect spot for kite surfing

My family has been here twice in the past month camping in the Hawthorne primitive sites. We love it! Sites are beautiful and both sites we stayed at were on the water. We love fishing and the sound of the water at night so it was perfect for us. Park employees are all so friendly as well and facilities are kept clean. Beautiful Texas State Park! ❤️

Well day spend at #RayRpbertLakeStatePark. This is really well maintained park ample of space for kids to play and enjoy. Attaching map for more details. $7 per adults (13 years and above) there are several places to visit in between before visiting to the final spot, camping is allowed to the designated areas . We missed a sunset but I am damn sure sunset view would be better as this lake is located at south west. You can bring your bike for trail, do swimming at your own risk, skiing, boating and fishing. This lovely space to visit for a day with group.

Denton County Courthouse-on-the Square Museum

Slide 1 of 3

Beautiful open-air square for family and friends to hang out. Also many fun bars around with college students and locals mingling.

Super nice docents with lots of knowledge about Denton history. You sign in and then take your own walking tour of the displays on the first floor as well as the court room on the second floor. Go it your own pace. Fun things for kids to play with also. It doesnt matter if your new to Denton, visiting Denton or have lived in Denton for every, there is lots to learn from this museum.

Still a working courthouse for the commissioner's court, the county has made great use of its public space with a variety of displays including a small museum. I understand you can rent out the courthouse for weddings or similar events which would be a nice unique space for such an occasion.

I absolutely LOVE this place. This was my first time to visit the historic town and it did not disappoint!!! The shops were cute and filled with treasures. I went especially to visit the antique stores. I was not disappointed. The Antique Company Mall was amazing. I love how almost all the stores had antique wood flooring that creaked. Next time I go I want to try an eatery. There is lots of free 3 hour parking stalls that line the streets.

I love visiting Downtown McKinney! The area is very walkable and has the feel of a small town square within a large city. Beautiful historic buildings, several excellent restaurants, antique stores, clothing boutiques, and other unique small businesses. Historic Downtown is built around the courthouse and hosts several festivals throughout the year. Music festivals in the summer, Oktoberfest, and Christmas celebrations to name a few. Parking is a challenge, but there are garages. Lovely way to spend an afternoon/evening in McKinney!

Awesome town!!! Antique shops,.restaurants, boutiques, high end furniture, candy store and even a comic book store! We happened to visit at the beginning of a festival so the town was all dressed up and super cool. Very clean and awesome people everwhere! Great for walking around and parking was plenty. Planning on moving to Texas soon and cant wait to go back!! Lucky us a food truck was open and we ate the most delicious funnel cake - yum!!

Audie Murphy/American Cotton Museum

This museum offers historic buildings, local history exhibits, military artifacts & a war memorial.

Slide 1 of 3

I didn't think I would enjoy this museum quite as much as I did. There is a lot to read. If you read every placard as I tend to, you can spend 2 hours here. There are three sections: Regional history, the cotton industry and 20th century wars, especially WWII and the incredible story of Audi Murphy. I really learned a lot.

This place is awesome. The story of Audie Murphy is one of the great American success stories. From extreme poverty to the heights of success. The most decorated man in world war two, movie star, author and song writer. Yet he never forgot his roots. This museum tells it all.

Pretty awesome museum. Every station has a small read , articles. Lots of history is given and how people lived during the depression and the sacrifices given. Pretty neat how so much was collected and put on display for us!

Southfork Ranch

Dude ranch

Sights & Landmarks

Picturesque ranch used as the setting for the original 'Dallas' series & now offering tours & more.

Slide 1 of 7

If you’re old enough to recall the hit television show ‘Dallas’ during the 1980s, you’ll be familiar with Southfork Ranch. Southfork, which is 25 miles (40 km) north of downtown Dallas, was used as the show’s setting, welcomes visitors with guided tours of the sprawling mansion to relive their favourite scenes from the series. If you’re too young to remember the Dallas mania that swept the world, Southfork Ranch and its gorgeous setting is still an impressive Dallas landmark to see.

Around a 25-mile drive from the city centre, Southfork Ranch is one of the best things to do in Dallas if, well, you love Dallas. You see, it;s the ranch from the Dallas TV show. If you’re a fan of the TV series, you’ll even get the opportunity to explore inside, too.

Yep, this is where the iconic ’80s television show Dallas was filmed. But don’t worry: If you visit, you won’t be besieged by backstabbing, lust or dramatic showdowns. Quite the opposite, actually.

For fans of the TV show Dallas, no visit to the area is complete without making a pilgrimage to this iconic ranch, located 25 miles north of Dallas in the suburb of Parker.

Loved the show Dallas and have always wanted to see the ranch. The ranch is an amazing & beautiful place. We learned alot about the history of the family who had owned Southfork & also about the show. Definitely recommend putting this on your list of things to do in Texas!!🥰🥰🥰🥰

Had a scheduled horse ride on a typical Saturday with my boyfriend. We showed up to the spot to meet and no one was to be found. We tried going into the shop and the doors were locked. Mind you this was a 2:30pm ride and the last ride starts at 4pm. So we decided to wait around and see if we could join with the 4pm group. We waited in the car for over and hour and no one ever showed up. We tried to call but there is no one to talk to when you call because it is all automated. My boyfriend tried multiple times to get in contact with them via email and phone and never got a response. He then tried to revoke the charge on his card that he paid with and Southfork claimed they gave us a tour, so the money was not refunded. We never spoke to anyone from the ranch or were able to get in contact with them. A very disappointing experience to say the least.

Very clean great vendors. Seemed the venders were really happy to be there and that showed when talking to them. Wish this trades day was open more than once a Month. Will definitely be going next month.

Downtown Plano

Historic Sites

Points of Interest & Landmarks

Slide 1 of 5

Downtown Plano is a place that will give you a sense of the past. Its architectural assets are mostly still in place that gives you the old Texas town character. There are cute and charming shops and restaurants perfect for a photo op.

Their historic downtown has tons of brick shops and even a vintage train you can hop on. Walk through their various coffee shops to Haggard Park for some photos in front of their gazebo.

One of my favorites areas that I’ve found in the Dallas area since moving here two years ago. Good restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and other shops, with more than one public parking lot so plenty of space to park within a max of a block or two to walk if street parking for a particular place full. My favorites are: 32 Degrees (rooftop bar above urban crust pizza), 1418 Coffeehouse & Better than Sex (dessert shop). There’s also a plaza area and frequent events there. The whole area is cute and feels well kept and safe to walk around. My favorite time to go is during holiday season when everything is decorated and lit up😊

Beautiful place to walk around with fun events year round, with plenty of easily accessible parking. The square is also wheelchair accessible. We visited this weekend to see the Dickens Christmas event! Carolers, Christmas-themed ballet and hip hop performances, and theater performances. Everyone was friendly and the shop owners in the district are always happy to chat and give recommendations. Definitely stop by for a few hours if you’re in town!

This is an awesome place for dates or to hang out with friends. Easily accessible by train and lots of locally owned businesses to support. Or if you are looking for a free date, the park is beautiful. There are also events and community theater performances on occasion, so check the downtown plano website for the calendar.

Incredible experience. I purchased a gift certificate for my husband and brother in law for Christmas. They operated both the excavator and bulldozer. The experience was seamless from booking to scheduling to day of. The operators had tons of fun and had sufficient time to get the hang of each piece of equipment. The instructor Dave was knowledgeable and very well versed in his guidance. As spectators, we were very comfortable. There are covered picnic tables at each equipment stop - each well positions for close up views of the action. The spot is an easy drive from Dallas. All around highly recommend!

Extreme Sandbox is a place you can do extreme things with large construction vehicles. Ever wondered what it feels like to drive heavy machinery? Well wonder no further with Extreme Sandbox! I went with my best friend and he had a great time there. There are several vehicles that one can use to push things or even destroy them. Their is the option of the Wheeler Loader, Excavator, and Bulldozer. The staff was very professional and nice. A headset is given to the operator of the vehicle and the guide helps them through the process. The operator guide, directs the operators so there is no chance of an accident happening as long as you listen to the operators. There is also air conditioning in the construction vehicles as well. One of the great things about them is they have package deals as well. And one could potentially go with a group as well. Another cool aspect about the Extreme Sandbox package deals is that you even have the opportunity of destroying a vehicle if you would like to do that. Family and friends are also allowed to view the vehicles outside if they want to watch you operate a large vehicle. It's not an everyday thing where you can just drive a bulldozer or excavator. So if you ever dreamed of doing something like that, I would highly recommend Extreme Sandbox!

BIG BIRTHDAY SURPRISE! This year for my Birthday Jessica told me she had a big surprise for me, but wouldn’t tell me what it was! I literally had no idea what it was going to be but when we got there it was EXTREME SANDBOX!!! This is business that lets you PLAY with genuine Komatsu construction equipment!!! I’ve always been wanted to do this since I saw a similar concept in Las Vegas, Jessica took a mental note and had been planning the surprise! She bought me the “Excavator Package” which is 60 minutes in a Komatsu PC-290! This thing was so powerful and fun to play with! It cut through the dirt like BUTTER and made it seem nearly effortless to dig a huge hole. Controlling the excavator is a lot like a 30 ton RC car, or makes a lot of sense once you get going. The precision on the bucket was so good I was able to knock tennis balls off of cones, play basketball with the teeth, and even PICK UP A CADILLAC! I also got to drive the machine around obstacles, up and down hills etc. It’s like a tank! The weather was VERY cold hit luckily for me the inside of the cab was climate controlled, and I was even wearing a headset where the instructor could help tell me what to do. They even gave Jessica a headset too so she could listen in on the fun! This was a AWESOME gift idea and I would absolutely recommended it to anyone who was ever curious what operating heavy equipment was like. If you’ve ever fantasized about “goofing off” in a massive piece of machinery then this is the first experience for you! I’ll never forget my 38th Birthday!!! Awesome! Thank you Jessica! 🎉

Also on view are some of the gifts given to the President and First Lady from foreign Heads of State.

Whatever your opinion on the 43rd President of the United States, it’s a fact that he was in office for some of the country’s most crucial events since World War II. After Barack Obama’s inauguration in 2009 George W. Bush settled in the Preston Hollow neighborhood of Dallas, and his Presidential Center opened on the campus of Southern Methodist University in 2013. One engrossing exhibit is a detailed replica of the Oval Office, but you’ll also see material recovered from Ground Zero, accompanied by Bush’s diary entry on 9/11 and the various gifts given to the president by foreign politicians.

The Museum houses approximately 43,000 gifts given to President George W. Bush and the First Lady by people around the world as well as other artifacts gathered during their time in the White House. Using artifacts, documents, photographs and videos, visitors learn about the Nation's triumphs, struggles, people and culture during President Bush's administration. Kids especially enjoy the Life in the White House exhibit where they can learn all about the First Pets and what it takes to put on a state dinner.

The George W. Bush Presidential Center is a wonderful place to visit, especially for those who want to look back at the different events that happened during the Bush presidency. Some people visit the center to reminisce those who have risked their lives during the 9/11 incident, while some go there to know more about the duties of a president. Overall, it is an important edifice that reflects many of the things that happened to the people of America and the true American spirit.

As George W. Bush presided over some of the most impactful events in the country’s recent history, it is well worth checking out his Presidential Library and Museum when in town. While the former is mainly used by researchers, the latter is home to fascinating artifacts and engaging exhibits on his time in office. Tucked away on the Southern Methodist University campus, its large complex lies fifteen minutes’ drive north of downtown.

Former President George W. Bush is known for his connections to Texas, and his presidential library and museum lets you really learn about him. Featuring all sorts of important pieces from his presidency and life, this is a very cool place to visit for those who are fascinated by the work of our Presidents. In terms of design, it’s definitely one of the top Dallas attractions.

First on our list of Dallas historical sites is actually a bit of a newcomer — opening its doors in early 2013. Located on the Southern Methodist University campus, the center is right in Edgemere’s neck of the woods. It features a museum showcasing the life and presidency of our nation’s 43rd president, plus a beautifully curated native garden, park and restaurant.

Located at Southern Methodist University, the Bush Center is home to the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum. As the 13th presidential library, the museum examines the specific time during which President Bush served. Highlights of the permanent exhibit include “A Nation Under Attack,” which remembers the events of 9/11, and The Oval Office replica.

President George W. Bush ("Bush 43") is the son of fellow Texan and fellow POTUS George Herbert Walker Bush ("Bush 41"). Both presidents have libraries in Texas. The Bush presidency after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 is a major part of the exhibitions at the Bush 43 center in Dallas.

This vast $300-million facility documents the presidency of George W Bush. Like other presidential libraries it has two missions: to allow research and to present a record of the president to the public.

Then head to the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum and take your presidential picture at the full-sized Oval Office. Satisfy your Sporty Side

We truly enjoyed the educational and informational visit to this museum. The entry price is a little steep, but it’s part of City Pass so don’t sleep on that deal. We spent a little over two hours and didn’t read every single thing. There’s a nice tribute for 9/11 and details of the days, weeks and months to follow. There’s a replica of the Oval Office which was neat to see. I really enjoyed the segment where Laura talks about true home side of the White House - they really made it feel like home which I have never really given much thought to. All in all, a really nice exhibit.

Although we are not big fans of the Bush presidency, we found this library and it’s staff particularly engaging. The library is very well staffed and there is always a guide about that can explain an exhibit or give you some insight into the background of a particular display. The recreated Oval Office was terrific as was the 9/11 exhibit. Overall a very worthwhile visit and one of the better presidential libraries we have visited. We give it four clams on the coveted Five Quahog Rating Scale.

I really enjoy the presidential museums. In case you didn't know, this is on the SMU campus. The place is VERY well put together with marble and wood mixed with technology (that's a 20 foot fall screen wrapped around the atrium). I was a child when he was first elected and in high school when he left office. There was a lot here that I had vague memories of, but never studied because it was happening while I was growing up. The exhibits are extremely flattering to Texas culture and I think they did a tasteful job of laying out the challenges and pressures that he encountered as president and how/why he acted as he did. I feel much more respect and understanding now. They also had a really interesting exhibit on the outside of his new venture - painting. I was not aware of this at all, and it was kind of fun to see him smiling and making art in the videos.

Sitting in White Rock Lake Park, this 66-acre oasis is one of the best places to visit in Dallas for weary travelers.

If you like flowers, you’ll love the Arboretum. In Springtime the tulips and hyacinths are so gorgeous and plentiful. There are many other flowers at this time but those really catch your eye. In the Fall they have the biggest display of pumpkins I have ever seen. The grandchildren love running around and taking in all the beauty and exploring the property. Great place to visit, no matter the seasonal.

It took my new fiance and mother to this beautiful place by recommendations from my sister. We thoroughly enjoyed it, the weather was pretty good for that day and there was plenty of things to look at and enjoy. We wish there were more water fountains available is the only thing and maybe some misting fans. Plenty of places to sit and enjoy the shade though and photo shoot opportunities. I give this place a four and a half Stars!!

Beautifully kept gardens, water features, paved walkways with lots of room to roam. Even some of the most popular areas weren't crowded. A great way to spend an afternoon. I encourage you to bring drinks and maybe a picnic lunch and a blanket to take advantage of the beautiful area to just relax and enjoy.

The Shops at Terrell

Shopping-mall chain featuring a variety of brand-name & designer outlet stores.

Slide 1 of 3

My family and I spent the day shopping and having a wonderful time. Everyone was pleasant and very helpful except for Sun Riot. The owner/employee was extremely rude. We'll definitely be back but never to this store.

Nice small outdoor outlet mall with some basic stores in Terrell right off of Interstate 20. Unfortunately some of the stores from years ago have closed. Still nice to go for a walk and do a little shopping 🛍.

Something needs to be done at the Terrell Texas location. The mall manager is an absolute joke! He did away with the security guard. There are no cameras. I know of one store that has been hit 3 weeks in a row for over a thousand each time. None of the shops are properly maintained. Stores have to set out buckets when it rains. Yall need to quit listening to his lies about how "good" the budget is and check with the few stores that are actually still there. Before you have to close your doors permanently seeing how 2miles away there is another shopping center that is thriving.

This was such a great Horseback riding experience for us. I loved the place, the people were really nice. We booked from phone, paid in advance for party of four. By cousins visited from Florida so wanted to give them some texan feel and this place was perfect for them. We did the trail riding which in itself was a great experience and the trail up and down was really beautiful. They even lent us cowboy hats to take pictures. My uncle and aunt didn’t do the horseback riding but they loved the Ranch experience. They also conduct some Summer Camps for kids. The place is perfect for family, couples or even if you just want to get the experience by yourself. The horses were really nice and the instructors were very helpful.

My daughter wanted to do a trail ride for her birthday so we booked this location it was fun all the kids had a great time. Horses are very friendly and sweet. Friendly staff

Me, my daughter, son and mom trail riding yesterday, 1/26/2022, was a great experience, trail guide was friendly and answered all of our questions no problem, even took a picture of us on his phone and text me the pictures. all the pups I met, Jack, oreo and chopper were friendly. Will be returning and even looking into horse back riding lessons for my daughter soon. Horses are free ranged so while you wait for the trail guide Jeff you get the best view of all their off duty horses grazing and will be greeted by Jeff's dog jack with wags.

I had a good experience at this location 5/2018. I was in & out in 10min. I downloaded & completed the paperwork at home and had photo taken in advance at Walgreens. All I really had to do was drop off paperwork, have it notarized on site, and pay. I couldn't believe it when my passport arrived in only about 10 days. Generally, government workers are not known for customer service but that being the case I thought the staff was cordial.

Terrible customer service I got a ticket on the December 24 and had to call everyday until January 21 to get any information and still got put on hold to no one ever coming back

I called multiple numbers that were given to me so I could call and make a payment. Each time I was sent to a voicemail where I left a message asking for them to return my phone call, which they never did. This is very frustrating, because I have a due date for this payment and am paying by card

This is a great little place for a day trip or take the kids. It's only 5.50 for adults and kids 3 and under are free. It only takes about an hour to see everything. They have a fishing pond for adults and one for kids. They also have a nice little nature trail. We will definitely come back here.

Great family place. Admission price is reasonable or you can purchase a season pass. Very good displays of Texas fishing, fish culture and habitat along the ponds and in the museum. You can buy fish food and feed the fish in the exhibit ponds. At the casting pond you can fish for catfish, bluegill and rainbow trout. The fishing is free with rods, bait and instruction if you have never fished. The Game Warden’s museum is small but informative and Ken, the volunteer was great, answering questions and giving us detailed information. The wetlands trail exhibits were a bit overgrown and old but still informative. The tram tours were not running yet. Plenty of places to have a picnic and snacks at the gift shop. We spent 3 hrs here and were impressed.

Great day trip for the family...relaxing 1/2 mile tree covered trail, free fishing for kiddos and indoor water exhibits*

I highly recommend taking the train ride with family or friends. This was such a nice experience. They serve snacks and beverages, and when you arrive at the next depot, they provide a delicious lunch next to a lake with picnic tables. My family and I had a great time, and will definitely be back. They are planning to have special event train rides, so keep an eye out for that! They also do the Polar Express theme every year around the holidays. Also, a scene from the show 1883 was filmed at the Palestine depot along with many other films and television shows. This was a special experience.

I would give this place 4 stars. About the only thing that I didn't like is that...when your seated.... you're seated with other strangers. The seating is sharing seats with others. We did the first class cart. Other than that....is was an ok ride. It's more for kids experience. And this was my first time ever coming here. I thought I was going to sit down with my family... didn't happen. Expect to be seated with other strangers when you ride first class. We did the Easter egg hunt express. Which it was only 45 minutes long. I did love the scenery. Fresh air. Not recommended in summer time. Hot carts. Expect to pay for snacks and drinks in carts. We ate before we got there. They don't allow outside food. Costly for your drinks and food. $$

We had so much fun with Texas State Railroad Palestine today. The train, a restored 1920s model, was beautiful, clean and comfortable. The original fixtures and appointments were fascinating. The ride between Palestine and Rusk was filled with mostly native landscape on the outside, and wonderful music, stories and facts about our wonderful State. A delightful bucket list item and hidden gem deep in the Piney Woods of East Texas.

Great little park! The lake is huge and access to the Navasota River is easy. We had so much fun camping, hiking, and paddling! Plus, the kids really enjoyed learning about Cynthia Anne Parker.

This place was really clean and well kept. The grounds were beautiful and the hiking and bike trails were great too. Clean bathrooms and hot showers. We stayed in a cabin so we had electricity, grill, and fire pit. We will definitely be back. You may want to book reservations ahead of time as the weekends seems to be pretty booked. The one downside is cell service is pretty ify.

This park has everything you want in a park!!! Camping, cabins, hiking (with shade), water for swimming or boating or fishing, a river to explore by kayak, sup or canoe, tons of wildlife, birds of all types, armadillos, raccoons, deer, etc. Bluebonnets in the spring, fall colors. On top of that there is the incredible history of the Fort and the cemetery. A fantastic place.

Stayed 1 night on 1/3/21 in camp site #59 with a C class camper. All hookups available and in good shape. Plenty of room with a beautiful view of the lake. A relatively short walk to bathroom facilities which were unheated but clean. I would definitely stay at this campground again.

Beautiful, well kept campground with lots of trails to hike. Great fishing on the lake, rv sites well level and plenty of room between sites with fire ring at each site. Plenty of firewood available for purchase at park Beautiful sunsets on a beautiful day! Definitely a must visit!

This is a beautiful park, with nature's friends everywhere you look. The trails (that we experienced) were stroller friendly, and there was no shortage of picnic spaces. There were many interactive learning spots along the trails, also. The activity center was very nicely laid out, and it had a wonderful view of the lake. The kids enjoyed the slide and swings after our light "hike". When camping, we enjoyed the large campsites. Pin Oak section was complete with electric and water hookups for campsites. The shower house/bathrooms were very tidy and decently clean, and I really appreciated the stall layout for the two showers. The store has a observation tower, and you can also find a Nature Center inside for the kids!

Slide 1 of 3

I had as much fun as my kids did. This place was AMAZING and such a great place for pictures! We got a 6 pack admission deal off of Groupon and it included animal feed, and drinks. The baby goats were honestly the best part. We will be going back again and again, and bringing family and friends along too. You can also book events there!

I've been here a few times over the past 11 years, and my kids and I still love it! From the petting zoo, to the zip line, to the playground, giant sand box, and huge games (checkers, chess, jinga, and connect 4) They even have a cute mini golf course. Prices are very reasonable, honestly cheaper than you would expect nowadays. Not only on entry but for food and drinks as well. Definitely a great place to take the kids for some outdoor fun.

We visited on a cold wet Saturday and still had a blast! My kids are 7 and 8 and a fantastic age to enjoy 7 Acre Wood. We warmed up with hot chocolate, fed the very sweet animals and played on the playground, zip line, mini golf and more for four hours. The staff were sweet and helpful and made us some decent lunch. $4.50 for a kids sandwich, chips, brownie and juice box. Thank you! Picnic tables are just outside the entrance if you prefer but you can't take your own food in. Parking is close and very convenient. I would highly recommend 7 Acre Wood on a warm day (not much shade in the summer) and with kids around 10 and under. Goats can get lively so watch your little ones fingers! You'll get a fun day out that won't break the bank (pony rides are $5 inc tax, feed cones are around a dollar and feed bags $5 each). Your kids will be talking about the goats, sheep, Llama, donkeys, deer, highland cow, ponies and guinea fowl for weeks.

Slide 1 of 4

JUST ANNOUNCED: @iamHalsey is bringing her Manic World Tour to The Pavilion on June 16th!. Presales start 1/16 at 10AM. More info >> bit.ly/2QVF6Tf.

I've always loved outdoor theaters and this one is one of my favorites. There is so much to enjoy. If you choose you can sit under the canopy area. I always prefer lawn seats. They prices have gone up but they had a major renovation so it's understandable. You can enjoy cocktails, beer, or wine before the concerts. It's a small but comfortable venue.

My daughter and I went to see Mercy Me with her Godparents. It was a fabulous concert. Be sure to arrive very early (2+ hours for parking)and make sure you check for compliance on purses and such.

Went here for the first time since living my whole life in Texas and I was shocked at how cool it was. It's small and I mean that in a great way. It's an intimate venue and the renting of lawn chairs in the general field is the best idea ever. The whole lawn is graded so even if you sit behind people, you can still see everything. The food and drink options are amazing and I was totally satisfied. I saw dead and company here and I hope they have more shows here. My only suggestion is to bring a water proof blanket for the lawn. Bot that its always wet, but just in case its damp and u dont want to rent a lawn chair just have the blanket with you. Parking in the area us great and mostly free, too!!

It's a bit of a drive to get there — the strip is about a 30-45 minute drive from downtown — but with roughly 150 outlet stores, it's well worth the trip. Armani, Burberry, Kate Spade and Michael Kors are just a few of the high-end brands in the mall.

Houston Premium Outlets is another shopping center that’s worth the trip (it’s located in Cypress, about 30 minutes northwest of Houston). Fill your shopping bags with discounted offerings from brands like Hugo Boss, Armani, DKNY, and J.Crew.

The mall is big, good to walk for a day and do shopping. The mall is open and that I love it. Sunday was very crowded and every hour passed more crowded. I was surprise two store had line putside the store and inside was full. Nike was another store super crowded as the food court. The restroom were very decent for the amount of people going in and out. Good stores and good prices.

For my first time visit, it was a good experience. There are many great shops and good value for money. Good places to eat something quick!

Came to The Outlets with my family. They have lots of stores to come and shop. There is even a food court to enjoy different kind of food.

Another of Houston's unique museums, the National Museum of Funeral History displays artifacts related to the funeral industry. This 30,500-square-foot facility claims to be the "largest educational center of funerary customs in the US" and is surprisingly popular. On display are historical hearses, a colorful exhibit on Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos), as well as exhibits on embalming, presidential funerals, coffins from Ghana, Japanese funerals, 9/11, and various other themes.

It is then only appropriate to have a museum dedicated to enlighten visitors on one of man’s oldest cultural rituals, funerals. It houses caskets, coffins, hearses and even the Popemobile used by Pope John Paul II in 1982 and many items donated in collaboration with the Vatican in its 30,500 square foot exhibit space. It is the largest educational center on funerary customs in the United States and perhaps the world.

This bizarre yet popular Houston landmark celebrates anything and everything relating to funerals. The displays and exhibits range from ordinary to outlandish, including hundreds of coffins from across the world, embalming processes, presidential funerals and antique hearses. The museum’s Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) details this unique Latin American celebration in a colourful and entertaining way.

The National Museum of Funeral History in Houston is the largest collection of funeral service relics in the United States. It features enchanting (even though some people may call it morbid) exhibits, which include, Celebrating the Lives and Deaths of the Popes, Day of the Dead, Presidential Funerals, and The Vietnam Veterans Memorial. Find out what the difference is between a casket and a coffin.

As unique and bizarre as it sounds, the Museum of Funeral History is a very well made brainchild of Robert L. Waltrip who wanted to make people aware of all the aspects of what he called “death care”. The Museum has several different exhibits such as “Thanks for the memories” which has a display of the most memorable or outrageous funerals ever held. “Day of the De...Read more

I was not sure what I was getting myself into but I gotta say that this was much more then I expected. I was sorta expecting some low key or maybe goulash thing but it wasnt at all. It treated the subject with a very important overview that had me learn more then a few things. It was pretty easy to find if a bit out there in Houston. The price was good and while maybe not a thing for very small kids. I can see this being a place for more mature kids. I went during the week so it was not crowed at all so it gave me time to really look around at everything. If you want a museum unlike anything else anywhere then this is the place.

I had no idea how extensive this collection was. It took over 2 hours to see everything! There are so many items and informative plaques. This museum has put an extensive effort into the collection and display of funerary knowledge. 10/10 will return

Awesome museum near Houston, one of the more unique and content-rich ones around here. Not a large place but has a lot of artifacts, weird facts and interesting history around the culture of funeral. Nicely organized and separated into various sections. I'd recommend spending about three hours here, I went for a bit less than two hours and definitely did not have enough time to browse through everything this place had to offer.

Dewberry Farm

Childrens farm

Sights & Landmarks

Farm attraction with seasonal events such as Easter egg hunts, corn mazes & holiday light displays.

Slide 1 of 3

I attended the fall fest with some friends and had so much fun! I was afraid there would be too many activities aimed towards little kids but my friends and I in our 20s had a great time! Lots of large swings and fun roller slides for all ages, plus pedal carts, flower picking, and corn mazes! A great place to spend the day outside and have some fun in a little country/fall environment.

One of the biggest farms I've been to with so many attractions. It's more on the pricey side but it's worth it if it's your first time and you have kids. So many photo ops during the fall the only down side are the lines for food, wish they were more prepared specially since they know they're always packed. Other than that you can really have a blast here, best place for a pic is their pumpkin house :)

Our family loves this adventure. Favorite things were the carousel, basketball shooting, hay rope, playground, peddle carts track, giant slide, and looking at the animals. Price was kinda high but there was a fun days worth of activities. Will come back again for sure. They have great smelling food as well. Turkey legs and roasted corn.
