Venmo is one of the most used money transfer apps. It makes it simple to pay your friends after an event or outing without handing over cash or change.

If you need to pay someone back and your Venmo balance isn't sufficient, the app will take the entire amount out of your linked card or bank account instead. This can be frustrating.

You can avoid this by adding money manually from your linked bank account to it, provided you have been approved for a Venmo Card.

You can add money to your account even if you aren't approved or don't want a Venmo card. All you need is a computer.

If you enter a payment amount that’s greater than what you have in your Venmo account, Venmo automatically takes the difference from your linked funding source.(If you don’t have the funds in your bank account, well, that’s another story.)

Only Venmo users with the Venmo Mastercard Debit Card have the option to add money from a verified bank account directly to their Venmo balance (opens in new tab). Just follow the below steps.
