Whatever the reason may be, just know it's easy to cancel an Amazon order. There is one catch, however: You can only cancel physical items if they haven't entered the shipping process. So, your window for being able to cancel an order varies. We recommend canceling it as quickly as possible, or else you may have to wait for it to arrive and then return it (if it's eligible to be returned, that is). So, let's get you canceling your Amazon order before it's too late.

Canceling an Amazon order takes just a few steps and can be done in no time at all. Here's how.

Physical items

If you want to cancel an order for physical items you've recently purchased on Amazon, follow these steps:

1. Go to the Your Orders page.
2. Select the order you want to cancel.
3. Select Cancel items.
   • You may see Request Cancellation for seller orders.
   • If you no longer see Request Cancellation, contact the seller for instructions.
   • Go to Contact Third-Party Sellers.
4. Select thecheck box of the item that you want to remove from the order. To cancel the entire order, select all of the items.
5. Select Cancel selected items in this order when finished.

Note: After Step 3, you may see Request Cancellation for seller orders. If you no longer see Request Cancellation, contact the seller for instructions. Go to Contact Third-Party Sellers.

Digital orders

If you want to cancel a digital item that you've ordered, such as a subscription, that's a different process.

1. Go to the Your Memberships and Subscriptions page.
2. Then, select Manage Subscription next to the subscription you'd like to cancel.
3. Select the link under Advance Controls.
4. The main subscription page will open. From there, you can end your subscription.

Can you cancel an order from the Amazon app?

Yes, but you can't cancel digital orders in the app. To cancel an order for physical items, follow these steps:

1. Open the Amazon mobile app.
2. Tap the Me Tab icon (second from left in the navigation bar).
3. Your Orders.
4. Select the order you want to cancel.
   • If you don't see the item that you want to cancel, tap Show more items.
5. Cancel Item.
6. Tap Cancel checked items.

Can you cancel an Amazon order after it ships?

No. But you may be able to return it once you receive it. See Amazon's support page for how to initiate a return.

• Open up Amazon
• Hover over the Accounts and Lists button
• Click on Your Orders
• Find the item you want to cancel
• Click on the Cancel items button
• Click the cancellation reason box
• Choose the reason you want to cancel
• Click on the Cancel selected item in this order button
• Check if your order has been cancelled

   Open up Amazon

   

   Open up the Amazon website on your computer. You can also do this on a phone or a tablet, though you will need the Amazon Shopping app to do so.

   Hover over the Accounts and Lists button

   

   Hover over the Accounts and Lists button that’s on the home page. It sits in the top menu section and is on the far right. It should also say the name of the person who owns the Amazon account.

   Click on Your Orders

   

   From the drop-down menu that is presented, click on the button that says Your Orders.

   Find the item you want to cancel

   

   Out of the orders on the Your Orders page, find the item that you want to cancel.

   Click on the Cancel items button

   

   Once you have found the item you want to cancel, click on the button that says Cancel items. It is grey and will sit on the far right side of the item box.

   Click the cancellation reason box

   

   The blue price box on the right side of the box should already be selected, however, if you are looking to cancel a larger order that has multiple items, make sure you only select the boxes that you want to cancel, or it will cancel your entire order.
   Click on the cancellation box on the far left-hand side of the screen.

   Choose the reason you want to cancel

   

   Choose the reason you want to cancel your order. This is optional, meaning you can skip this step if you don’t want to disclose the reason for cancelling your order.

   Click on the Cancel selected item in this order button

   

   Once you have chosen your reason for cancelling your order and the blue price button has been ticked, click the yellow button that says Cancel the selected item in this order.

   Check if your order has been cancelled

   

   Once you have clicked the Cancel item button, you will be taken to a new page that confirms your order has been successfully cancelled. You should also check the email associated with the Amazon account to confirm it has been cancelled and to check when a refund will be coming, provided that you have already been charged.

If you have already been charged for your order, Amazon claims that your refund will be delivered within five to seven working days.

Can I cancel an Amazon order that has already been shipped?
