How to find my wifi password on my ipad

Your phone or iPad has a Wi-Fi network saved, but you don’t know the password and you need it for another device, can you see the Wi-Fi password somewhere in the settings on your phone or iPad?

The short answer is no, the iOS operating system hides the password for the Wi-Fi account. There are a few options you have in case you cannot remember the wifi password. If you have a Mac computer you can find the Wi-Fi password in the Keychain Access app on the Mac. Option 2 You can share the password from an iOS device (iPhone or iPad) to another iOS device, or finally there might be a sticker on the bottom of your router with login information to the Wi-Fi. If you received your router from your internet company you should be able to call them to retrieve the Wi-Fi login.

To share your password with another device, first go through the process of connecting that device to Wi-Fi like you normally would.

  1. Open the settings app
  2. Go to Wi-Fi
  3. Choose the network you want to connect to from the Choose A Network… List
  4. Wait once at the Enter Password screen

Now with your other device or friends phone waiting at the enter password screen follow these steps.

  1. Unlock your phone
  2. Hold your phone next to your friends phone or iPad
  3. A popup should appear at the bottom of the screen asking if you want to share your password.

The popup on your phone should then say it’s complete, you can press the Done button and you are all set you have successfully shared your Wi-Fi password.

What do I do if I cannot access my router and need to know my Wi-Fi password?

If all of the above fails many internet service providers such as AT&T put a sticker on the bottom of their router with the Wi-Fi name and password. Or if you received your router from your internet service provider you can usually call them to get the password. If you purchased your own router you can try logging into the IP address of the router and then checking the Wi-Fi settings to see the password, or you can reset the router to factor default settings.

Apple's iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 have plenty of cool features, but one of the most useful additions is an easier way to find every single Wi-Fi password that you've ever entered into your iPhone or iPad. It's a feature that's been available on Android for years, and is way more flexible than Apple's previous method for sharing Wi-Fi network access.

Before iOS 16, the only way to share your Wi-Fi network was to either have the password memorized or place your Apple device close to someone else's to share it automatically -- but this only worked between Apple devices. This automatic way of sharing your password never showed you what the password was, so if you wanted to connect your Nintendo Switch or smart TV to the internet this way, it just wouldn't work.

Fortunately, this latest feature lets you easily go into your settings, find a Wi-Fi network and view the Wi-Fi password. You can then copy and paste it into a text message or email and easily share it with anyone else who needs it. Here's how. (Also, here's how to find stored Wi-Fi passwords on your Mac.)

1. Go to Wi-Fi.

2. Find the Wi-Fi network you want the password for and tap on the blue information icon to the right of the network name.
