Background and Objectives: There is no certain cure available for patients suffering from recalcitrant trichomoniasis. Zinc sulfate is reported to have antitrichomonal properties. We report our experience in treating four patients empirically with a combination of zinc sulfate douche and metronidazole. Study Design: A retrospective case analysis. Patients who presented to the tertiary referral clinic with chronic recurrent trichomoniasis without evidence of reinfection were treated empirically…

Treatment of metronidazole-resistant trichomoniasis is mainly limited to case reports or series and promising options include oral tinidazoles and topical paromomycin cream.

  • Can you get rid of trich naturally?

There's aren't any proven home treatments for trichomoniasis. Plus, this STI often doesn't cause symptoms, so it's hard to gauge whether home treatments are effective. It's best to err on the side of caution and see a healthcare provider for any potential STIs.

    What STD does metronidazole treat?

Trichomoniasis is usually treated quickly and easily with antibiotics. Most people are prescribed an antibiotic called metronidazole, which is very effective if taken correctly. You'll usually have to take metronidazole twice a day, for 5 to 7 days.

    Can boric acid cure trichomoniasis?

As an antimicrobial, boric acid has been shown to be effective in killing the bacteria that causes trichomoniasis in vitro (Brittingham & Wilson, 2014).

How long does it take for trichomoniasis to go away after treatment?

You're typically cured in about 7 to 10 days, but check with your doctor to know for sure. It's not uncommon for people to get another trich infection a few months after treatment. So make sure you don't have sex again until you and your sex partners are cured and your symptoms are gone.
