How to reset engine oil life on 2005 chevy silverado

2011-2015

1. Display the “Oil Life Remaining” message in the Driver Information Center
2. Press and hold the SET/RESET button on the Driver Information Center for more than 5 seconds (on vehicles without DIC, use the TRIP reset stem for SET/RESET)
3. The oil life will change to “100%”

2007-2010

1. Turn ignition switch to ON position with engine off
2. Press the MODE button until the DIC reads “Oil Life Left/Hold Set To Reset”
3. Press and hold the SET button until the display reads “100 percent”
4. You will hear 3 chimes and the “Change Engine Oil Soon” message will go off
5. Turn the key to the OFF position and back on to confirm reset successful

1999-2015

1. Turn ignition switch to ON position with engine off
2. Fully depress and release the accelerator pedal 3 times within 5 seconds of turning key
3. Change Oil lamp will flash for 2-10 seconds while it resets
4. Once it stops flashing, the maintenance light reset is complete
5. Turn key to OFF position and then start engine to verify indicator is no longer illuminated

Chevy Silverado 2000-2007 Change Engine Oil Soon Reset

On this tutorial we need to use the DIC BUTTON. Located at the steering wheel.

STEP 1

• Turn the IGNITION ON, Don’t start the ENGINE.

STEP 2

• Continue PRESS the FUEL BUTTON (B) until the remaining OIL LIFE will display on the INSTRUMENT CLUSTER.

STEP 3

• While the REMAINING OIL LIFE is displayed. PRESS and HOLD  the ENTER BUTTON (D) .
• CHANGE ENGINE OIL will flash.
• The OIL LIFE RESET will display for 15-20 seconds.
• ENGINE OIL LIFE: 100% will display. That means the OIL LIFE is RESET.

STEP 4

• Turn Ignition OFF. Oil Reset is now Complete.

The OIL LIFE can also be reset using this METHOD.

STEP 1

• Turn the IGNITION ON, Don’t start the ENGINE of CHEVROLET SILVERADO.

STEP 2

• IMMEDIATELY PRESS the ACCELERATOR PEDAL 3X, Within 5 Seconds.
• CHANGE ENGINE OIL will flash.
• The OIL LIFE RESET will display for 15-20 seconds.
• ENGINE OIL LIFE: 100% will display. That means the OIL LIFE is RESET.

STEP 3

• Turn Ignition OFF. Oil Reset is now Complete.

2007-2014 Chevrolet Silverado Change Engine Oil Soon Reset

STEP 1

• Turn the ignition to ON/RUN with the engine off.

STEP 2

• Fully press the accelerator pedal slowly three times within five seconds.

STEP 3

• Display OIL LIFE REMAINING on the DIC. If the display shows 100%, the system is reset.

2014-2020 SILVERADO CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON.

On this tutorial we need to use the DIC BUTTON. see image below.

STEP 1

• Turn the Ignition On, Don’t start the ENGINE.

STEP 2

• Use the DIC Button. Press the LEFT ARROW button then  use UP ARROW to select INFO, Then Press the CENTER BUTTON.

STEP 3

• Use the UP or Down Arrow, to navigate and to display the REMAINING OIL LIFE.

STEP 4

• While the REMAINING OIL LIFE is displayed. PRESS and HOLD the CHECK MARK BUTTON until the REMAINING OIL LIFE will RESET to 100%. (You will hear a single beep)
• OR Press RIGHT ARROW–  RESET– confirmation message appear select YES. After Pressing YES the OIL LIFE will reset to 100%.
• OR While the OIL LIFE is displayed. Fully press the accelerator pedal slowly three times within five seconds. The OIL LIFE will RESET TO 100%.

STEP 5

• Turn Engine OFF. Oil Reset is done.

When to Change Engine Oil

This vehicle has a computer system that indicates when to change the engine oil and filter. This is based on a combination of factors which include engine revolutions, engine temperature, and miles driven. Based on driving conditions, the mileage at which an oil change is indicated can vary considerably. For the oil life system to work properly, the system must be reset every time the oil is changed.

CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON

This message displays when the engine oil needs to be changed. When you change the engine oil, be sure to reset the Oil Life System.

The Oil Life display must be reset after each oil change. It will notreset itself. Do not reset the Oil Life display accidentally at any time other than when the oil has just been changed. It cannot be reset accurately until the next oil change. To reset the engine oil life system,follow the instruction above.
