With more than 30 million credit card users, India is one among the countries having most number of active credit cards. As the demand for credit cards has been on rise, credit card companies are compelled to provide better services to attract more customers to their products.

Credit card bill payments being one of the important aspects in credit card management, banks and credit card companies are coming up with new ways to make it fast and convenient for customers. With more and more customers opting for convenient and easy to use channels, the banks are offering both online and offline payment modes to provide a range of options for the credit card holders.

Paying credit card bill using a debit card is one of the options offered by quite a few banks. As every wallet today has a debit card, paying credit card bill using a debit card is more convenient for the cardholders.

One interesting thing about debit card payment is that cardholders can use both online and offline modes to pay the bill. However, only a few banks allow debit card payment through both the channels.

Paying Credit Card Bill Using A Debit Card (Online)

The most common online method that banks offer you to pay your credit card bill using a debit card online is through a payment portal or an online channel that exclusively allows debit card payments.

Another method which indirectly accepts debit card payments online is the net banking facility of other banks. The channel is especially helpful when you want to make one bank’s credit card bill with another bank’s debit card.

The net banking facility, however, may not allow you to make payment directly with the debit card, but allows you to pay from the account linked to the debit card, provided you’re registered for the facility with your bank.

Paying Credit Card Bill Using A Debit Card (Offline)

One popular offline method to pay your credit card bill using a debit card is to pay through the respective bank’s ATM kiosk. Most of the banks allow you to visit their bank ATMs to make credit card payment of their own credit cards. However, you cannot use a debit of one bank to pay credit card bill of another bank. And unlike ATM cash withdrawals, credit card payments must be done at the respective bank ATMs not at any other bank ATMs.

For instance, if you’re paying HDFC Credit card bill, you need to visit only HDFC ATM, not other bank ATMs. And by using the ATM, you can either pay the total amount due or the minimum amount due on the card, not whichever amount you want to pay.

Paying Credit Card Bill Using Another Bank’s Debit Card

The option to pay credit card bill of one bank with another bank’s debit card is currently available only with a few banks. However, as mentioned earlier, you can use the account linked to the debit card to clear your credit card dues. Again, banks accept credit card payment only from selected bank’s net banking accounts.

You can register for the bank’s net banking facility from which you would like to transfer funds to pay credit card bill of another bank.

Benefits Of Paying Credit Card Bill Using A Debit Card
