Psychiatric residential treatment facility for youth texas

Learn more about our psychiatric inpatient program for teens in Austin, TX

At Cross Creek Hospital, located in Austin, TX, the focus of treatment in the Adolescent Inpatient Psychiatric Program involves providing a safe, hopeful, and nurturing environment for adolescents, along with expert psychiatric care. We utilize a multidisciplinary team approach to your child’s treatment within this program. Your assigned treatment team will consist of a psychiatrist, nurses, a licensed clinical therapist, and therapeutic care specialists who will work together so that a solid clinical treatment plan is implemented. They are committed to the success of your child. The goal of the treatment program is for each adolescent to return successfully to his or her home, school, and community.

Our 20-bed inpatient unit treats adolescents ages 12-17. The unit is locked and completely separate from the adult units. In addition, sleeping areas, group therapies, and school sessions are segregated by age. The average length of stay is 7 to 10 days but can be shorter or longer depending on the need of the adolescent.

The inpatient unit in this treatment program is designed to stabilize patients during an acute crisis (such as an inability to keep themselves safe and/or to think clearly and coherently). Our approach involves multidisciplinary evaluation and treatment of each young person. Our team performs a comprehensive assessment that reviews functioning and determines possible reasons for the crisis. An appropriate treatment plan for the adolescent and his or her family may include individual, group, and family therapy, as well as medication treatment.

Each adolescent on the unit participates in both a creative and recreational therapy program that includes music therapy and yoga, both of which are designed to meet his or her emotional and physiological needs.

What is RTC in kids?

A residential treatment center (RTC) is live-in facility that provides students with therapeutic and behavioral interventions and treatment when their needs exceed what is available in their district, typically because their needs at home are intertwined with their needs in the educational environment.

How do you get a teenager to commit?

You can petition a court to have your child committed. You can call the police when your child is acting out and if the police view your child as a danger, they might have your child committed. This is a risky strategy, though, because the police might also choose to simply arrest your child.

How do you get someone out of a mental hospital in Texas?

File a request: A request for discharge must be in writing and filed with the facility administrator or someone they designate to handle these requests. If you make a verbal request to leave, a staff member must help you prepare a written request to sign as soon as possible.

What is the meaning of residential treatment?

A residential treatment center (RTC), sometimes called a rehab, is a live-in health care facility providing therapy for substance use disorders, mental illness, or other behavioral problems. Residential treatment may be considered the "last-ditch" approach to treating abnormal psychology or psychopathology.
