Marvel's 2018 animated movie Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse follows Miles Morales, a teenager struggling to find his place in the world, as he becomes Spider-Man with the help of those around him. The film was one of the most acclaimed animated features of the year, earning the award for Best Animated Feature Film at both the Golden Globes and the Academy Awards.

Whilst viewers' love for the movie can be largely attributed to the animation, the score, and the brilliant story, the voice cast gives a virtually flawless performance that ties the whole film together. With many experienced actors' voices behind the now-beloved characters, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was destined to be a hit.

10/10 Brian Tyree Henry Has Played Important Roles

Brian Tyree Henry plays Miles' father, Jefferson Davis. Davis is a police officer who is a caring father, but who disapproves of vigilantes like Spider-Man taking the law into their own hands. Henry has had an impressive career on stage and screen starring in TV shows like Atlanta and movies such as If Beale Street Could Talk and Joker. He recently became known in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for his role in Chloe Zhao's Eternals, where he played Phastos, a weapons and technology inventor and the MCU's first canon gay superhero.

9/10 Lily Tomlin Is As Beloved As Aunt May

Triple threat actress, comedian, and writer Lily Tomlin lends her voice to May Parker, the aunt of Peter Parker from Miles' dimension. It is a shock for Peter B. Parker to meet her because his aunt May is dead. But in Miles' world, May provides a safe place for and assists the Spider-People. Lily Tomlin is well known for the many roles she has played over her career, including Linnea Reese in Nashville and Violet Newstead in 9 to 5. Tomlin became known to a new generation through her role in Netflix's Grace and Frankie which she stars in with her 9 to 5 co-star Jane Fonda.

8/10 This Wasn't Zoe Kravitz's First Marvel Role

Although she does not play a huge part in the movie, viewers still got a glimpse at Peter and Mary Jane interacting in Into the Spider-Verse. MJ is voiced by Zoe Kravitz who, as well as being born to famous parents Lisa Bonet and Lenny Kravitz, has built an impressive acting career of her own. Starring in franchises such as Fantastic Beasts and X-Men and the acclaimed HBO drama Big Little Lies, Kravitz recently took on the role of Selina Kyle/Catwoman in Matt Reeves' The Batman. 

7/10 John Mulaney Brought Comedy To Into The Spiderverse

Making his feature film debut, comedian John Mulaney voices Peter Porker, a web-slinger from an alternate dimension who was a spider that became a pig when bitten by a radioactive pig.

Although Mulaney has appeared in television series such as Big Mouth and Dickinson, he is best known as a stand-up comedian. Propelled by his work on Saturday Night Live Mulaney has put out many successful Netflix specials, including Kid Gorgeous and John Mulaney & the Sack Lunch Bunch, which have earned him praise and accolades.

6/10 Nicolas Cage Is Recognisable To Many Generations

Spider-Man Noir, a version of Peter Parker from an alternate 1930's dimension, was voiced by Nicolas Cage. Cage has an extremely colorful, decades-long career behind him. While he won an Academy Award for his performance in the 1996 drama Leaving Las Vegas and starred in the likes of The Rock and Con Air, Cage has also lent his voice to many family films, including, G-Force and The Croods. Cage has a cross-generational appeal and this year will go on to play himself in the comedy, action movie The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.

5/10 Kathryn Hahn Plays A Brilliant Villain

Kathryn Hahn voiced the role of Doctor Olivia Octavius, a female variant of Doctor Otto Octavius and advisor to Winston Fisk from Miles's dimension. Hahn has had a long career in film, specifically in comedy, starring in movies such as Step Brothers, We're The Millers, and Bad Moms. She recently became known by a wider audience through her portrayal of antagonist and witch Agatha Harkness in the MCU series WandaVision. Hahn is set to reprise her role in the Disney+ series House of Harkness, which is currently in development.

4/10 Mahershala Ali Can Give A Multi-Layered Performance

Mahershala Ali voices the role of Miles' uncle, Aaron Davis. Initially appearing as an ally to Miles, it is discovered that Aaron works for Winston Fisk, an enemy of Spider-Man. Ali is an extremely talented actor, having appeared in many beloved movies where he has given acclaimed performances. Ali has received two Academy Awards for best supporting actor, becoming the first black actor to win two awards in the same category. He became widely known for his awarded role as Juan in the 2016 drama Moonlight.

3/10 Hailee Steinfeld Has Played Many Heroes

Young actress Hailee Steinfeld ventured into voice acting when portraying the role of Spider-Gwen in Into The Spider-Verse. Gwen hails from a dimension where she harbors spider-like abilities, like Spider-Man, and unlike the Gwen Stacy's that fans have seen on screen before.

Steinfeld has an impressive career behind her, being nominated for an Academy Award at just 14 years old. However, she became a household name through her role as Emily Junk in the second and third installments of the Pitch Perfect franchise. Marvel fans may also recognize Steinfeld from the 2021 Disney+ series Hawkeye, in which she played the role of naïve young archer Kate Bishop.

2/10 Jake Johnson Was Perfect For Peter B. Parker

Jake Johnson voices the role of Peter B. Parker. Parker is the Spider-Man of a different dimension and is an older, jaded and directionless version of the Peter Parker that Marvel fans are used to seeing depicted on the big screen. Johnson is probably best known for another, equally disheveled, equally lost character, New Girl's Nick Miller. Nick is an immature bartender who becomes the main love interest of New Girl's protagonist Jess. Johnson portrayed Miller throughout the show's entire run, from 2011 to 2018, and became known as a beloved 'himbo'.

1/10 Shameik Moore Plays A Great Protagonist

Shameik Moore voices Into The Spider-Verse's protagonist, Miles Morales. Miles is a young artist of African-American and Puerto Rican descent who becomes Spider-Man with the guidance of those around him. Aside from Into The Spider-Verse, Shameik Moore is known for starring in the acclaimed 2015 coming-of-age movie Dope where he portrayed Malcolm, a geek from Inglewood who gets caught up in the drug scene. Moore also starred in Netflix's musical, drama The Get Down, which was loved by viewers but canceled after only one season.
