Reviews for Land Rover Range Rover Sport

Overall Rating

4.2 out of 5 (33 reviews)

Within 6 months of owning it had dropped $1800 on repairs. Wife insisted on and had been wanting one of these for years, finally got one and here we are. Oddly enough, it drives fine, but has less room on the inside than my smaller BMW X5, and gets half as many miles per full tank of gas. Wife loves the thing though. Was super disappointed with the detail job CarMax did on the vehicle. We bought vehicle at night and when we saw it during daylight, outside was not very well cleaned and the inside was filthy under the seats. It's as if car wasn't cleaned at all.

Pros

  • Ride and Handling:
  • Power:
  • Styling:

Cons

  • Cost to Maintain:
  • Fuel Economy:
  • Seat Comfort:

If you want luxury, yes. I have read many of the reviews however on the maintenance of these vehicles and Im hoping that the 2012 model did not have nearly the problems other years had. So far, the vehicle has been a dream. However, I have noticed this pecking noise from the engine and when I brought to the attention of mechanics, they said that was normal for my vehicle that has all the injectors. I am also concerned about the electrical system - everything is electrical which is amazing on one hand but I know can be expensive on the other. So far though, Ive only owned this used vehicle 3 months and I am still very happy I purchased it.

Pros

  • Technology and Entertainment: The technology is amazing and all at your fingertips. I love all the bells and whistles.
  • Weather Versatility: I am excited for inclement weather because this vehicle is ready to take on any kind of weather
  • Seat Comfort: The heated seats are amazing. I am extremely comfortable as a driver but must say the passenger seat isnt quite as comfortable. The headrest portion of the seat seems too high but still luxury heated leather seats are a plus

Cons

  • Cost to Maintain: Ive only heard the horror stories and so far, Ive had no problems with my 2012 RR.
  • Reliability: Im concerned about RR reputation. So far, though, it's been reliable with the exception of replacing the battery within 3 months of buying it used from Carmax. HOWEVER, Carmax reimbursed fully. I replaced the battery with a GEL Battery and it starts every time like a dream
  • Ride and Handling: For a luxury car, the ride feels similiar to my sports car. I feel many of the bumps and pot holes in the road. The handling is very nice though. Solid vehicle.

- Bonnie Watts, 2012 Land Rover Range Rover Sport

After owning 3 other brand 4x4s and tradeing them off after a year because they just didn't perform like we wanted , we made our fourth car a Land Rover Discovery and on the first drive , fell in love ! In fact , we loved it so much into the 6th year with it we decided that we would trade our Mercedes S class off on a second one as our luxury car and that's when we found the Range Rover sport HSE LUX and now we have two Land Rovers we love ! So The reason I recommend the Land Rover is because, for me to trade off my Mercedes on a 4x4 , You know it has to be a fantastic car ! I have all the comfort, Toys and safety I had with the S class , in fact more ! I love them both !

Pros

  • Ride and Handling: Well again i traded my Mercedes S Class in on it so when we test drove the Land Rover - Range Rover Sport Hse Lux I was still being snobbish in my thinking but after our 45 min. test drive I was sold and in love with the smooth ride , comfortable and relaxing feel in side the cabin i wanted more !
  • Technology and Entertainment: Becouse i was used to the comfort and luxury of a Mercedes S Class and from the first pull of the drivers door handle the car takes over and pampers me . From the Easy entry function to the moniterd air pressure of the tires This Land Rover is looking out for my comfort , safety and pleasure .
  • Styling: All you have to do is sit and look at it ! Everyone else seems to be copying bits and pieces of it on thair brands (Ford Explorer) for eg. And i have had many people in parking lots tell me they " think thats the sharpest , most elegant and plain good lookingest 4wheel on the streets today! !

Cons

  • Fuel Economy: Its not that i don't like it , i expect to pay more for quality and power . But i always think its also worth more knowing im getting thair faster, not as tired and definatly safer and that alone is worth a litle more at the gas pump !
