I came across your articles from last September about walmart moneycards being hacked and the money spent at Targets in NY. I found this due to the fact this happened to me on 11/13/14. That was the day my paycheck is direct deposited onto my walmart money card. I had over $1200 on the card as of 8AM. I took my son to the doctors and stopped at walgreens on the way home to get my son medicine. My card got declined at walgreens. I went out to the car and checked my walmart money card account online and it said I had a $0 balance. The last charge was $950 at a Target in the bronx NY. They took every last cent I had on my card which was all of my money. I called Walmart and was told they cannot do anything until the debit posts which could take 10 days. The debit posted on 11/15/14. I then had to fill out a dispute form and wait for a letter in the mail.

The earliest I could get my money back is two weeks. This is unacceptable. I live paycheck to paycheck. My electricity is going to be shut off, my car insurance is going to be cancelled and my car my be repoed due to no payment. Then I have to decide to pay these bills or pay my rent. I feel like with one swipe the hackers have taken away my life and walmart could care less. After reading your articles this has been happening since September 2013 yet the only way I found out was when it happened to me. How is this not on the news by now since the issue has lasted over a year and why has walmart not warned me about this! If I get my money back I will be closed my walmart money card right away. At this point I hate walmart and never want to shop there again.

Fix machine - I was told it was broken but I can get cash at regular, which did and was charged 3. Sherman WM is the only place there is an ATM for me to use within a 25 mile radius. Something always upsets me there. I think I'm going to be changing my supermarket to Winco with me.

I made a purchase at a furniture store back in April. I purchased over $5,000 for three rooms. I paid cash for most of it but for some of it, I used my Walmart money card. The total purchase on the Walmart money card was $1,386 and I had issues with one of the rooms furniture so the store returned it but said they had to put it back on the Walmart money card because the return was only for $744.09 and I spent more than that with the card. I was okay with that. They told me I'd have the money back on the card in three days. I checked my account, the money showed it was there but when I went to use the card, it declined. I contacted Walmart, they told me there was a block on it.

They told me I needed to fax the original receipt to prove I made purchases totaling the amount, even though I was able to pull my account up and tell them the dates and amounts that wasn't good enough. So I went to the furniture store they made copies of the original receipts and they faxed everything to Walmart. I then called Walmart again they said that it would be reviewed and would take one business day. I called back 24 hours later and they were telling me it wasn't the original receipt even though the furniture store had the products and invoice numbers on the receipt and the fax came from the furniture store. They said they would have to call the store and verify it with the store manager!

They told me that the numbers didn't add up that I didn't purchase that much in product, I had four invoices one for $100, another for $100, one for $200, and one for $986, obviously they don't teach foreigners how to add in school they told me it was a mistake or fraud! After dealing with Walmart for three days and hours on the phone, they finally opened the money. I withdrew every cent and canceled my card. If anyone is trying to commit fraud, it would be Walmart because they took the three dollar fee and then blocked my account. If they thought it was fraud they shouldn't of even took the $3! Don't get a Walmart money card! I wish the attorney General knew the things they were doing with people's money that belong to the people and not Walmart!!!!

Loaded money on my Walmart card and bought an item from there using my money card. The next day when I returned the item and made to pay another fee for putting the money back on my card. In short it cost me $6 dollars total for using my card at the issuing store. When I return an item elsewhere, I'm not charged $3 to reverse a charge on a returned item. Why at Walmart? The manager Mike said it was my fault the cashier didn't reverse my transaction... "I didn't tell her how to reverse the transaction on my money card" I lost my money, and won't so there again... I will file this complaint with the BBB. Employees should know their job!

After bank issued credit card compromised, loaded hundreds on Walmart card to use during travel to Australia. Unusable abroad including at big W which is a subsidiary of Walmart USA. Upon return to USA, used to reserve hotel for one night in Denver, Co. Paid cash upon checkout. Guess what? Yep. Money's gone. Hotel assures it was credited back to card. Walmart refund system a joke. After reading about others experienced with this card, thankful only lost a hundred dollars and not more.

It is Veteran's Day and 24 hours late being uploaded to my card. I called the number on the back and got a woman blaming my employer. Well, what she doesn't seem to understand is that all other non-Walmart Card employees have their money, this is a new financial company that handles our pay checks and it's an odd coincidence that a second company would not load up our money on a holiday. It's happened every holiday for the past three years like clockwork. Normally I have no issues with Walmart Moneycard, but when you need your money, you better hope that you don't need it on a holiday that you get paid on.

Like many others, I purchased a Walmart money card for a short-term payment. When I went online (after making a transaction), I noticed that my email address and local address were totally wrong. I called and spoke to a call center from another country, and the person supposedly fixed the address. That person transferred me to another department to request a new card. Mind you, I had $120 in my account and a pending transaction of $99.00. The lady reassured me 3 times that the pending transaction would go through and to expect my new card with my $20 balance around 10 days from that date. Well, I still haven't seen a card AND my transaction had been cancelled. Walmart, get out of this business. Stick to groceries and housewares.

I have been dealing with this battle for two long weeks! I have had the Walmart's prepaid debit visa Money Card for about six months. Other than some basic expenses, I trusted Walmart to make my car payment. I have been going through some tough times, and being late to your car company is stressful enough. I went to Walmart after work Monday the 27th, and deposited a total of $1,200.00. I was told by the CS, that I could only deposit $1000.00 at a time, so I did it in two transactions. Later that night, I sent $800.00 to Nissan Financial through their payment financial company Bill Matrix. It's bad enough they charge me $12.95 per transaction every month. After I posted the transaction, it was rejected by my institute. I didn't understand why? I had the funds in there?!?! I even called Money card and they verified my funds. They told me to try it after 10 pm PST, since their system will be done with their updates by then. I tried to post a payment again, and even tried several times after. Declined. I called Money Card back and still couldn't get any answers.

In the morning the funds were taken?!?!? I explained to them I never received a confirmation number from Nissan?!?! How could the funds be gone! They gave me an approval number to give to Nissan, which didn't help, and directed me to Bill Matrix. After being interrogated by Nissan collections, Bill Matrix explained that I had put in the wrong zip code, and that's why the payment was declined. Even with the approval number they couldn't process my payment. I contacted Moneycard, explaining the situation, and now was told I had to wait till December to get the money back!!! Ooo hell no!

Because the story is so long, I am trying to input the key points: I have called Walmart's Money Card, Bill Matrix, and Nissan so many times. I even have had three way calls between both companies, trying to get Bill Matrix to fax over a Statement of Release. Which Bill Matrix has done four times to the same fax number. Each Money card representative has told me lies and different stories. Just today, I had one guy eating on the phone and told me my claim/ticket expired and I need to fax them again. After I asked to speak to a supervisor, he put me on mute (hold with the music equals mute to me) for two minutes and then hung up on me. So there I am calling again and again. This time a supervisor tells me to email them, but Bill Matrix's protocol is faxing only due to security reasons. A circle we go again, and now with a new claim/ticket number and same approval number, I call Bill Matrix for another Statement of Release faxed to the same damn number!

I rushed another phone call to Money Card after a 15 minute hold, and was told they received the faxed document but the approval number is wrong!?!?! I double checked it with the last supervisor and even the document had the correct one, but this supervisor tells me it's a whole different number!!! Now they have to forward it to a research department to get it looked over! They have lied to me several times, processed a payment that was rejected without the proper account identification (zip code), and still continue to hold my funds till December per five different Moneycard Representatives.

I don't care what Bill Matrix keeps telling me, that my payment should be rejected back after 10 business days, Walmart Moneycard keeps confirming they are keeping the $812.95 till December! I am stressed and wake up through the the night, swearing I hear a tow truck driver! I promised Nissan that I am paying them tomorrow Moneygram, but still they are pushing for my payment. I'm out $812.95 and out of ideas or ways to make my car payment. I swear... If they take my car?!?!?!

My funds were electronically taken from my card. There was one atm withdrawal and the other six transactions were purchases. This happened shortly after I got my veterans benefits directly deposited onto my Walmart money card on October 31, 2014. I contacted Walmart about this and they said they could not start their investigation and dispute of transactions til the amount were posted by the merchants. This is absolutely ridiculous. I live in California and these transactions were in Houston, Texas. They told me that it could take up to 10 business days to post and then they would have me file the dispute. As soon as I receive my money back on my new account I will close it and never use this company again.

I wish I knew about this site a couple of years ago with my dissatisfaction with Wal-Mart money card. I have one card and I wrote info down and keep hidden in house so wife can pay bills online while I'm at work. Went to grocery store to get food and such knowing there was $400.00 on card and total came to $246.53. It was declined. Thinking it was a mistake I had them run card again, something happened. I came home and called number on back of card. First I got no one for several days. Finally someone called and they spoke broken English. Told me my money was frozen to pay $360.00 to a credit card I don't own. After a few hours of investigate I found out stepson used my card to pay his credit card. They said they would send dispute papers in mail and you only have 8 days to receive, fill out and send back.

We never got the paper after 10. I call and was told they would send out a new one. They did and I sent it back along with the case number from state police showing I filed charges. I received that paper one day before my 10 days was up and had postmark to prove it. I received a letter telling me case is closed because I failed to send to them on time. Are you kidding. You send to me late, failed to send first one and then denied me money stolen from me. $360.00 gone. The state police called trying to clear this mess up because they also tried to say there wasn't a case filed and they refused to talk to them. Walmart is no better to be called a thief than my stepson is. It's been 2 years and I still haven't gotten my money and I probably never will.

I accidentally left my card at Walmart, with a cashier. I returned and of course she said she didn't have it. Anyway I quickly canceled the card. My problem is not the automated phone service, it's the actual live people you talk to. No one speaks proper ENGLISH! I misplaced my card Sept 25 to this day, I don't have card or my $919.00.... Today is Nov 2..... I have call at least 10 or 12 times saying something wrong. I have given my complete address every time, my apt # is Q11.... Q as in Queen or Quebec. 6 different times, they said 211, no I said Q11 as Queen or Quebec. Every time, they tell me 7 to 10 business days, that has not arrived yet. Nothing against FOREIGNERS! But walmart MUST hire proper ENGLISH speaking reps...... Me, unlike my neighbor, he would have gone up to our local Walmart, and it wouldn't have been pretty! He would have definitely made the 6pm news!

I purchased on Ebay and had a seller refund the transaction. When I did not see the refund on my card I called customer support WalMart Money Card and was told I would get the refund by the 11th of November. Today is the 31st October. I have never had these problems with Amex Serve Prepaid. I will start having my direct deposits going to Amex instead and ditching this WalMart Money Card. Not only does the Serve card not charge monthly fees but when you call for support you get someone you can understand and who is actually located in the US. Whenever I have had a refunded transaction I was able to call support and ask them to release the hold for said payment. Between WalMart and PayPal these two sit on your money trying to maximize profits on your time. Forget that, I am done with these people.

I purchased a Premier visa card from Walmart last week only because it does not charge a reload fee like all the other cards on hand. Within a week I received my personal card with my name on it. I went to activate it and notice my name was spelled wrong and could not activate the card. The person I spoke to who I wish could speak ENGLISH, was of no help and hung up on me while putting me on hold. I called back 5 times to try and settle this situation. I was informed I had to reopen a new card "which I did" put all my money on this card. I tried to activate it and was informed I could use it for purchases, no cash back which I understand but was not allowed to load any money on to it. I was not allowed to transfer my money from the old card onto the new card, why I don't know. They wouldn't even listen to all my questions and did not deactivate old card since first card was a temporary one. I still yet had all my questions answered by experienced people who can understand English.

In addition, I requested all my money returned to me and refused to use anymore cards I had to purchase for 6.00 a piece. Who the heck is going to pay for money spent on cards that are no good?????? I believe this card issuance from Walmart is a SCAM and will let people know this and refuse to buy any more cards from Walmart! I strongly think it over before purchasing one of these cards who tack on all kinds of fees just like a bank does. Outrageous!!! This is a JOKE. Be glad to get my money back and will not ever use this service or Walmart again. If I do not receive my money as instructed I will contact the BBB and obtain my own lawyer.

I went into walmart about 2 days ago to get a prepaid Preferred walmart money card to keep adding money from each paycheck so I can save up for a vehicle. Well I added 160$ that day, activated my temporary card, and then checked my balance 20 minutes later and the 160 was on there. I went online today though, and guess what?? If you guessed my balance said 0.00 you are 100% correct. I started flipping out and I called a customer service rep to see what the issue was. After being on hold for 15 minutes, someone that never attended english classes answered the phone and I told her about the situation and asked what the hell is going on?? She told me after any transaction, they put your card on hold for 7-10 business days for an investigation??? What the hell is that?

I explained to her nicely that I haven't spent a dime out of my account, only checked my balance to make sure it was still there because it is my first time using this card. She told me after having to repeat several times that there is nothing she can do about it and not to worry, the money should be back within 7-10 business days. I am definitely going to walmart tomorrow to raise hell and believe me, they will give me my money back right away, every cent or walmart the company will be seeing me in court and I'll quadruple my money after the lawsuit. If you do these stupid ** things to people and take their money like that, you need the cashier or papers included TO EXPLAIN THE ** POLICY about taking everyone's money. Change, seriously, change or shut it down.

I opened a Walmart card to be able to pay for a surgery and I don't have a bank account so it seemed perfect. I could get the Walmart card and pay with that - it was not at all what I expected! My surgery cost $6,400 - it said on the Walmart card I could reload a thousand dollars at a time but the balance on my card could not exceed $7,500 so there shouldn't have been a problem HOWEVER I get a email saying they temporarily locked my card and I needed to call them so I do just that. He informs me that due to my "unusual" reloads that they will take the lock off so I can spend the rest of my money but I can't reload the card nor will I be able to open another card account with them! I'm totally confused. I was following what they were saying, I could and couldn't do but my activity is unusual? When I stated I was paying for a surgery all he could say is sorry he wouldn't let me speak to anyone else but he was very unprofessional and just not helpful at all! I don't understand why they are getting by with doing this to so many people.

Currently I'm unemployed and through my state I have direct deposit allowed for my unemployment benefits. I didn't have ANY type of bank account until yesterday after this happened to me. I am a Type 1 diabetic and was going to purchase my insulin and supplies, which if any of you know a diabetic you know they need insulin to LIVE. I always check my balance to see how much money I will have left until my next unemployment check and when I did I noticed I only had 10.51 left on my card. Now I have been using Walmart's prepaid card since they were with GE capital bank, which btw helped me out a hell of a lot more than this Green Dot crap. I had identity theft once last year. Someone got somehow got my card information and made a hotel stay in Oregon. I have since received a new card after that incident.

I called up the old customer service line and was given my money back that same day and was able to take it all out of the card before they cancelled it. This time however I had identity theft in Miami, someone took out 220 dollars from an out of network ATM and then spent 2.14 for a soda or something similar at the same Walgreens store in which they took my money out of a Chase Bank ATM. So here I am with 227.14 stolen from me on a completely fixed income. I live check to check right now. When I noticed I IMMEDIATELY called the customer service number and filed the dispute thinking I would get my money back right away and I could do the same thing I did before. WELL BOY WAS I WRONG. Walmart told me I couldn't even file the complaint until it posted to my account, (funny though the money is already gone) so I was told I had to wait until it posted which could be up to 10 business days they said. I completely lost my mind because I NEED my insulin supplies which that money was going towards.

They told me there was nothing that could be done no matter how many people/supervisors I spoke with. So the transaction posted yesterday on the 22nd, I called them today to attempt again for the 10th time to get my money back, to which I was told I had to download a Transaction Dispute form, fill that out and as this specific supervisor Jay told me I could take a picture of it and send it to an email address that I later found out wasn't even valid. So I did what they told me to do even after the obscene questions they asked about if I was in Miami or if I gave my PIN number to anyone (my wife and mother don't even know my PIN) and then emailed the form to the supposed correct email which I'm still not 100% sure of. All I know is I need my money back and I cannot wait 10 business days for an investigation and a letter from them saying whether or not they will be issuing me MY MONEY back.

All I can say is that if I do not receive every single penny that was stolen from me back I will be suing Walmart and Green Dot for pain and suffering, my lost wages and the fact that if I don't receive my money by October 30th I will be going to the hospital so I can stay alive on this planet and then they'll be paying for my medical bills as well. This is absolutely Absurd how they can treat people this way with their own money. If a regular bank can issue you the money while they're investigating your claim, why can't a multi-million if not Billion dollar company do the same thing?

I purchased a money card for my husband as a way of giving him money while he was away. I ordered his personalized card right away; it never came. It has been 60 days and still no personalized card. He loaded 411.00 on his card to pay bills and cannot use this money nor take the money off of the card and the Walmart customer service number does not have corporate people that take customer calls to remedy the situation. Now they want to cancel this card and send him a new one, which gives us no access to our money for another 7-10 business days. This card is fraudulent, they keep your money, send no card, and will not allow you to take your money off of the card.

I used the card fully within the allowed deposit/withdrawal limits. Nowhere in the agreement is it stated where money cannot be withdrawn from an ATM; in fact, it tells me where I can go to specifically withdraw cash from their network of ATMs. My account was soon blocked from any more deposits, but they allowed me to spend the remaining money I had in my account.

Green Dot also will not let me add funds to my PayPal account, now. I have no idea why my legal activity with my MoneyCard account with Walmart would affect my ability to use Green Dot for my PayPal account. I have spoken several times with Walmart and Green Dot customer service, and they always gave me slightly different reasons for their incompetence.

Walmart/Green Dot are criminals for breaching the agreement. I have now spent the majority of my remaining balance, and have requested for my account to be closed and the remainder sent to me via check by mail.

Becoming frustrated with the typical fees associated with Banking checking/savings accounts, I elected to close my accounts in order to open a Wal-Mart money card. My direct Deposit goes directly on the card. I am not charged the excessive fees associated with typical Banks. If I don't have the money on the card, I simply cannot use my card. Everything aside from the often poor customer service related to a language barrier & absence of any form of customer satisfaction provided, Honestly, I chalked it up to the fact that if Customer Satisfaction isn't free. If I want this service, I must PAY a Bank fees in order to receive it. That being said, I began to realize that when items purchased were returned and the reimbursement being placed back on my card, that these fees were NEVER added back. This has happened enough times for me to initially be told the process takes Wal-Mart up to 10 business days to add the money back. Even though the originating store released the reimbursement immediately.

There've been times when I simply gave up! And don't even attempt to resolve with their representatives, they're 99% unprofessional, unknowledgeable & have NO grasp of the ENGLISH language. What started out as a way for me to avoid banking fees that I couldn't afford has resulted in my realization that sadly, in order to for me to protect my money Standard Bank fees cannot be avoided. The Wal-Mart money card is a joke.. and Sam Walton (founder of WalMart) would be aghast to see how his once honest & highly valued empire has become a place to avoid in every arena. I've heard repeatedly from current & former USA Wal-Mart employees enough about their abhorrent treatment/wages that I no longer endorse Wal-Mart on any level.

And Walmart cancelled the dispute and told me they were not giving my money back to me. I am disturbed by this. I lost 135 dollars total. Temp card worked fine for a couple of online purchases. Received the personalized cards, tried using them at several different merchants...declined. Transaction history for the card said it was a "security block" on the card. Customer service was not only completely useless (every agent just repeated that there's no block on the card), but several were outright rude, transferred me without consent, interrupted me, etc. 2 hours on the phone got me nowhere. Can't access the $22 on the card now... best I might be able to do is attempt to withdraw $10 from an atm and chalk the last few bucks up as a loss. Then take this card, throw it away and go with ANY other prepaid card, because this one sucks, point blank. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. I'm filing a complaint every way I can because this is a total rip off.
