Dealing with soap scum in your shower or bath? Easily clean the shower with the best soap scum remover. It removes the soap scum with little to no scrubbing.
A few years ago we ripped out our old shower in the bathroom and installed a new shower. It looked fantastic and I loved it until the soap scum started on the floor of the shower.
A couple of months ago, I saw everyone on Pinterest was raving about a dawn soap and vinegar mixture that they loved. I tried it, however, it was way too soapy and didn't clean well for me.
After playing around with the recipe I finally found something that worked way better with the soap scum in our shower. I really think this is the best soap scum remover.
If you are looking for an easy homemade soap scum remover check this one out.
One of the things I love about this homemade soap scum remover is that it doesn't take a ton of scrubbing and you can easily make it at home with things you probably have around the house already.
Ingredients Needed For Homemade Soap Scum Remover:
- Vinegar (just the regular white vinegar)
- Dish Soap (I prefer Blue Dawn)
- Spray Bottle (I love these spray bottles from Amazon)
- Scrub Brush
You can see below my shower floor had soap scum covering it before I started. Using the best soap scum remover I completely removed it and made the shower look clean and like new again.
Step 1: In the spray bottle add 1 cup vinegar with 1/2 cup dawn soap. Replace Lid.
Step 2: Shake well to really get the vinegar and the Dawn mixed up.
Step 3: Spray the soap scum with the vinegar mixture. Make sure the soap scum is completely coated.
Step 4: Set a timer for about 15 minutes to let the vinegar really soak into the soap scum.
Step 5: After letting it soak take the scrub brush and scrub over the area for a minute or two. This should help loosen the worst of the soap scum.
After that my shower floor looked much better after this first step.
Step 6: Repeat. Next, spray the area with the soap scum with the vinegar and dawn soap mixture.
Again, make sure that the whole area is completely saturated with the mixture. Then take your scrub brush and give it a little scrub. Just for about 20-30 seconds to make sure that the mix is getting to all the soap scum.
Step 7: Set a timer for about 10 minutes and let it soak.
Step 8: Once the 10 minutes is up, use the scrub brush to scrub away at the soap scum. After that the soap scum should easily disappear as you are scrubbing it.
The soap scum in my shower was gone after about a minute of scrubbing.
If you have to scrub much I would recommend letting it sit on there for about 10 minutes longer.

Step 9: When the soap scum is completely gone take a few extra minutes to really wash all of the soap and vinegar mixture from the tub or shower. This step is really important!
Note: The dawn soap makes it really slippery so you don't want to leave any still on the floor.
This soap scum remover is the best! You can easily and quickly use it to clean your tub or shower whenever it gets the soap scum buildup on it. Check out how clean my shower floor looks after using the best soap scum remover.
