When does season 8 of fortnite start

Want to know when Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8 begins? The current Fortnite season has been out of this world, featuring an ongoing alien invasion, even more Street Fighter skins, and a concert from Ariana Grande herself. With the next season just around the corner, what could be in store? If the last few weeks of quests and leaks are to be believed, we’re in for a hell of a time.

Doctor Slone is one of the new Fortnite skins from Season 7, though she has been referenced in cutscenes since Season 5. She is a high ranking member of the Imagined Order, the organisation that controls The Island. Throughout Season 7, Doctor Slone has been trying to stop the aliens from harming anyone, and now she’s working on a way to discover the source of their power.

If the latest leaks turn out to be real, the next season could be one of the best yet. Here’s everything you need to know about Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8, including the release date, all the rumours emerging from datamined leaks, and more.

Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8 is likely to start on September 13. Epic hasn’t confirmed this date, but we can make an educated guess judging by the end date of the Season 7 battle pass, which is September 12 – the Operation: Sky Fire event date.

CONFIRMED: Naruto will be in the Season 8 Battle Pass!

This was already leaked some time ago, but it was recently confirmed by Donald Mustard (Chief Creative Officer @ Epic Games) in a conversation with @qCandywing.

Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8 BATTLE PASS

A Redditor with a good reputation for accurate leaks has listed several events likely to surface in Season 8. The main leak, which has since been confirmed, is the introduction of Uzumaki Naruto from the Shonen Jump anime series. Naruto could similarly headline the battle pass to Superman and Rick Sanchez (from Rick and Morty) in Season 7. This isn’t the most far fetched leak, as we know Epic surveyed players about bringing Naruto to the game months ago.

When does season 8 of fortnite start

The Batman and Fortnite: Zero Point comic revealed information about Doctor Slone working with Lex Luthor and Batman – this all but confirms that more DC crossover skins could be added to the game. We already know about Bloodsport from The Suicide Squad making his way to the battle royale game, but we still haven’t heard about a few DC characters. Expect to see other DC characters such as Shazam and Green Lantern join Fortnite at some point during Season 8.

Remember the Pyramid leak from 2 weeks ago? Today a desert loading screen was added along with 4 props called "Desert Cactus" that launch like a tire when you overlap them and they can somehow be consumed too. We might also get a Mad Max collab/reference (spotted by @Sharp_3D) pic.twitter.com/ig3gSLGXDo

Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8 LEAKS

It appears the legendary Cube is making a return at the end of Season 7 – the leak claims a mysterious Queen character has been controlling the cube the entire time. Also coming to Season 8 is a mechanic known as ‘the Sideways’. This references the Upside Down portal in Stranger Things, an alternate dimension home to the dangerous Demogorgon.

The Sideways is rumoured to contain monsters, though not all of these creatures will be threatening. Season 8 will introduce rideable mechs and monsters to the game, suggesting that the Sideways also produces creatures that won’t immediately eat us.

Other rumours and leaks suggest that we could be getting a Mad Max crossover. Fortnite leaker HypeX shared some artwork that has been datamined, along with a cactus texture and references to pyramids in the game’s code.

There is also a ‘Fallen Light‘ starter pack bundle that contains the ‘D’Ark’ outfit, the ‘Shattered Hope’ back bling, and the ‘Dark Blessing’ harvesting tool.

And that’s everything you need to know about Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8. There’s still plenty of time to go before the season launches, so try to finish off all of the battle pass challenges while you still can. Fortnite's latest season, Chapter 2 Season 7, concluded this evening with the Operation: Sky Fire live event where players snuck aboard the alien mothership. The event finished with the mothership crashing down to the map alongside a number of Cubes, leading to the popular free-to-play video game essentially being down until the launch of the new season. Thanks to a timer at the end of the event, it appears that we finally know exactly when Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8 will officially kick off.

More specifically, the countdown timer indicates that Fortnite Season 2 Chapter 8 will begin tomorrow, September 13th, at around 2AM PT/5AM ET. According to the official Twitter account relaying Fortnite's status, "Cubes are currently taking over Fortnite as a result of Operation: Sky Fire, shaping up the next Season," and the video game will not be able to be played prior to the new season's launch. Server downtime, specifically, is expected to begin at 11PM PT/2AM ET.

You can check out the official tweets from the Fortnite status tracker for yourself below:

During this Cube takeover, you'll be unable to play Fortnite prior to server downtime. Prepare to defend the Island!

As for what Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8 might actually look like, there is practically no telling at this point. Based on the Operation: Sky Fire event and the wording of the official tweets, it seems like there will be a number of Cubes across the island as well as debris from the destroyed alien mothership. This should translate to new and changed points of interest across the map, but likely not an entirely new map. There will also be new content, as always, in the form of skins, weapons, and so on.

As noted above, Fortnite is set to launch Chapter 2 Season 8 early tomorrow morning, September 13th, at around 2AM PT/5AM ET. The popular free-to-play battle royale video game is currently available on most major platforms, but the iOS version, specifically, has hit a snag after Epic Games intentionally set off a chain of events that caused it to be removed from the App Store. The legal fight over that decision is ongoing, but the short version is: nobody is currently playing Chapter 2 - Season 7 on an iPhone right now. That could change in the near future given the recent ruling largely in Apple's favor, however. You can check out all of our previous coverage of Fortnite right here.
