  3. How Many Cups Are in a 15-ounce Can of Pumpkin?

If you’re knee-deep in pumpkin recipes, you may have found yourself wondering exactly how many ounces of pumpkin are in a 15-ounce can. Some recipes call for cups of pumpkin, not cans, so knowing how much you need will help you when you’re at the store.

A 15-ounce can of canned pumpkin holds nearly 2 cups. It’s actually 2 1/2 tablespoons short of 2 cups, about 29 1/2 tablespoons total.

If you buy the 29-ounce can of pumpkin, you’ll get about 3 1/2 cups cups in that can.

Did you know some varieties of pumpkins can be less than 1 pound when fully grown? And other varieties can be grown commonly to 1,000 pounds plus!

The world record for the heaviest pumpkin was broken in 2014 with a 2,323 pound pumpkin from Germany! The seeds were auctioned later.

Below you will find the gram-cup conversions for a number of ingredients that I use most frequently on my site for all recipes as of 15th March 2015. It is not a comprehensive list by any stretch of the imagination because I use a myriad of different ingredients, but if you look through my recipes, you’ll find I’m partial to a mashed banana, some pumpkin and a lot of glorious Biscoff Spread… 😉

I would also encourage you to weigh your ingredients. Scales are relatively inexpensive and ensure your bakes are always accurate. I have had success with volumetric baking before, but in grams, it’s guaranteed you have the same amount of an ingredient that I did when developing my recipes!

A note on eggs: I ALWAYS use large eggs in my recipes. 9/10 I write it in my recipes, but if I happen to forget, it doesn’t mean I’ve changed the size of my eggs. Drop me a message and I’ll go back and rectify the mistake!

A note on liquids: 1 cup = 240ml an awful lot of the time. I always write the cup and gram measurements in my recipes, so if this changes I will let you know! (Different thicknesses of liquids etc. can change this measurement!)
