5.0 out of 5 stars Any other intake is trash 🗑

I can see how it helps with milage because my jeep no longer has to struggle to get air if I'm going up a hill or passing someone. It was easy to install except for having to track down a lock nut for the air box because they gave me an extra small one meant for the bracket that secures the air tube, but it was only a 47 cent fix at the hardware store so very miniscule issue lol can't really see how people think it is too loud though unless you accelerate to past 3000 rpm. The air box is designed well allowing more air to pass through than the factory design. I've heard of people modifying the box the pull more air from the grill but they make a GTR ram air hood that will get extra cold air from the top of the hood and drop it on top of the air box. I think this intake kit is the only one that matters though in my opinion with zero down falls other than a nut that didn't even cost a dollar. My only concern is that if I end up getting a custom intake manifold from airram that allows me to bolt a mustang supercharger on it then air box will be on the opposite side of the engine bay. Think I will settle for race prepped heads and ross ceramic coated pistons with 11:1 compression ratio in addition to this intake and sick flowing magniflow exhaust. If you purchase this intake kit and want the most noticeable difference you will need to install performance y pipe catalytic converter and performance universal catalytic converter as well as performance cat back exhaust system because the way this jeep with 4.7 is designed will actually lose power with factor catalytic converter and will make you feel like you wasted money, learned that the hard way.

I had pretty good automotive knowledge going into the install so it made it relatively easy to do. One thing that you will need is a deep socket set for a rachet and so patients because this involves taking out the plastic in between your drives side front tire and the metal body of the car which can really be annoying since its held on my body pins. i broke 2 or 3 of them just trying to get the plastic free enough to work so i could secure the air intake shield and tube. the worst part was getting the cheep plastic stuff out since that was held in by more bolts that were difficult to reach, but would have been easier if i had an extra hand and a set of deep sockets. That is another point, that 2 people will be better than one since you will need to be able to hold the bolt in and loosen the nut end. One other help would be a long rachet extension if you don't have deep sockets since its hard to get in to get the old plastic air intake out with out and extension, i got so frustrated and wanted to get it in that i just hit the plastic box with a lighter and melted the plastic where the bolt was holding it on since there was no other way of getting it off without the proper tools, not the best idea but i felt that it was the best idea since i just spent some serious dough on the cold air intake and didn't feel like spending more on tools that i would use once and then wait a few years to use again since its not often that i need that long of an extension. Once the old air intake is out its pretty smooth sailing from there on and the only parts i got that didn't come with it was thin metal washers, plastic washers, nuts, and bolts, those were just to cover the holes from the stock intake though since the K&N didn't use all the holes and i didn't want water getting in through them but idk if you really need them, it just worked nicely since the washers sealed it up nicely and covered the holes. overall though, once its in, the performance is amazing, my torque and acceleration was greatly increased and the sound alone was worth the money. when you hit the gas on the high way to get around someone the person will realize that you got over in the right hand lane to go around them as you pass.

I love this thing. It doesn't do me much good for fuel economy while city driving but that's ok because I am an aggressive driver and the other benefit of this product is the increased horsepower and throttle response which suits me fine. Because of that...aggressive driving will decrease efficiency. At first I tried to drive easy but quickly realized that I was more aggravated by defying who I am than paying a little more for gas. The same design that increases performance will increase fuel efficiency so if you want to save gas...keep your foot out of it ;-). I've been waiting to review until I took it on a long trip to test efficiency. I put this on my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee(110k miles) with a standard 4.7L v8 with full time 4x4 which kills your fuel efficiency because of all of the extra mechanical resistance. I took it on a 1700 mile round trip and my highway efficiency increased by almost 15%. Understand that my Cherokee is most efficient at 65mph but remember, I'm aggressive so I was driving 70 to 84mph most of the time and punching it to get past the occasional moron and this product made that very fun. Even at 70mph the acceleration is awesome! I probably could have increased efficiency by more than 20% if I drove moderately. I gave 4 out of 5 stars because the clamps are cheap. I used a heavy duty zip tie on the support bracket because the supplied clamp stripped under normal driving conditions(well, as normal as I get). Overall...I highly recommend putting this on every vehicle. P.S. The deep throaty sound is awesome and will make any vehicle sound like a hot rod when you get into it. Still quiet during normal driving though.

Is the Jeep 4.7 a good engine?

All things considered, the 4.7L PowerTech/Magnum engine is pretty reliable. However, it's only getting older so many potential issues become fair game. Maintain your Chrysler 4.7 PowerTech well and it should reward you with sound reliability.

    Is the Jeep 4.7 a V8?

A 4.7 L V8 came first, available in the Jeep Grand Cherokee, and a 3.7 L V6 version debuted in 2002 for the Jeep Liberty. The PowerTech V6 and V8 were direct replacements for Chrysler's LA family in the early 2000s, and were also used in the Dodge Ram and started in the 2000 Dodge Durango.

How many miles is a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Good For?

Can last a lifetime. If taken care of maintenance wise engine can last 350,000 to 500,000 miles. The 4.0 - 6 cylinder can be noisy but that is the way they are, great motor been around a long long time.
