2000 TJ 4.0l 3spd auto. Went wheeling last night and noticed this morning when I start the jeep the gauge goes straight to 80 and doesn't move at all, acceleration or deceleration, nothing. Hoping it's just the sensor? Can anyone point me in the direction of where it is? I saw a few pics online but doesn't seem like I can locate it. Also, any other culprits this may be?

It's next to the oil filter, it has a wiring harness connected to it.

Turn the key without starting it, If it pegs, turn the key off and unplug the sensor. Turn the key without starting and if it doesn't peg, it's 99.99% chance the sending unit is bad.

No, that is the camshaft position sensor. Give me a minute or two and I'll post a photo of the oil pressure sender...

It's an easy job, sending unit costs around 50 bucks.

One important note... don't waste your time or $$$ installing an aftermarket oil pressure sender from places like Autozone... they commonly have problems and are often junk. It took 3 from Autozone one Sunday before I got one for my son's car that worked properly. Get a Mopar sender from either the dealer's parts department or with a discount from WeRMopar.com - OEM Parts For Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram Vehicles

No, at most a few drops of oil will come out. Spread a newspaper underneath which will be plenty.

I can afford to drive a jeep because of members who help. Thanks Jerry!

Where are oil pressure sensors located?

The oil pressure sensor is typically located near the bottom or side of an engine, between the oil filter and the oil pan.

How much does it cost to replace the oil pressure sensor in Jeep?

The average cost for a Jeep Wrangler oil pressure sensor replacement is between $192 and $227. Labor costs are estimated between $132 and $167 while parts are priced at $60. This range does not include taxes and fees, and does not factor in your specific model year or unique location.

Can I drive with code P06DD?

Can I still drive? No. Driving with an active P06DD code and an illuminated engine light isn't recommended. This code is related to low oil pressure, which, if left undiagnosed, could potentially damage critical moving parts of your engine.
