2022 RAM 3500 review: Our expert's takeWhat Is the 2022 Ram Heavy Duty?The Ram Heavy Duty is a full-size pickup truck aimed at people with serious towing and hauling needs. These are massively capable trucks, and when properly equipped the 3500 version can tow in excess of 37,000 pounds. The Ram Heavy Duty can seat up to six, and it competes with the Ford Super Duty and Chevrolet Silverado HD. Offered in 2500 and 3500 form, a 410-horsepower, 6.4-liter V-8 engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission is standard, while a Cummins turbo-diesel 6.7-liter inline-six that makes 370 or 420 hp and a six-speed automatic is available. The diesel engine makes as much as 1,075 pounds-feet of torque in the 3500. Rear-wheel drive is standard, and four-wheel drive is optional. What’s New on the 2022 Ram Heavy Duty?Chrysler’s Uconnect 5 multimedia system has been added to Big Horn and higher trim levels.
