NO MOLD! I love the vent system to dry the washer out so it has no mold. I battled mold all the time with previous washers. This one is A-1 tops and I recommend it. It is properly engineered to drain water and then the blow dryer dries it drum. I love it. And my clothes are much cleaner. I also am using much less soap with the automatic soap dispense system. Savings in soap over the lifetime of this washer will more than make up for the extra cost. No mold has really helped my asthma. You do not realize how bad your clothes are when the washer has mold in it. I cleaned my previous washer weekly and it still was gross. this washer is beautifully clean and dry.

Please don’t buy this washer or dryer from GE. You will need service and the process will be very painful.

I purchased this washer and dryer set with pedestals in January 2021 to be installed in my new house. About a month after installation the washer wouldn’t turn on. I scheduled service with GE and a week later they sent out a local 3rd party technician. They diagnosed the issue as the main board and ordered the part. Another week later the replacement part arrived. I informed the tech and after three weeks he came back and installed the board. The washer would finally turn on but after a week it started to only go through the first few steps in its start up cycle but would never actually start the wash cycle. We called again for service and over the next 4 months and several service calls, the technicians replaced several parts, including the door assembly but the problem still persisted. During this time we had to swap between using the washer when it would work or going to the laundromat when it wouldn't.

Finally in June, after 5 months of living with the constant issues, GE agreed to replace the washer. The washer arrived and a local installer came to install it. When they saw that the old washer was on a pedestal he informed me that they could not put a new washer on an old pedestal. The GE customer relations person had forgotten to ask if the washer was on a pedestal so a replacement one was never shipped. The installer said they would take the washer back and hold it in their warehouse until GE ordered the pedestal. I called the customer relations person back again (each call takes over an hour on hold to get through). They informed me that they would order the pedestal and email me with an ETA. Ater another week, which put us in July, GE customer relations emailed to tell me it would be the end of July before the pedestal would arrive. They offered to refund the pedestal. I explained that without the pedestal the washer would sit almost two feet lower that the dryer right next to it which was not an option for me.

After several email exchanges I was informed that the pedestal was back ordered and would not arrive until mid August. I called customer relations again on a Friday afternoon to discuss a plan. I asked if I could simply go buy the pedestal (new in a box and GE branded). They say that would work and told me that they would schedule the washer again to be delivered. I went and bought the pedestal that same day. On the following Monday I was informed by GE customer relations that they had spoken to the installer and the installer said the pedestal I purchased would not work and gave no other information about how this would be resolved. I”m on hold again with GE as we speak to try again to get some kind of resolution. My next call will be the Better Business Bureau and Consumer Affairs in my state. Bottom line, do not buy a GE appliance.

We bought the blue washer and dryer for our home in the caribbean. Knowing that service is a hassle we really hoped for good quality. Our housekeeper does 4-5 loads during the week PER DAY. Both machines never failed, never had any issues and the cleaning is excellent. Steam function on the dryer is great. Auto dispense works great and the wifi connectivity is a big help with the laundry room being on the third floor...

Would absolutely recommend.

Buyer beware from purchasing something from GE. The products and warranty is horrible!! We bought a brand new GE washer and dryer 6 months ago totaling $1,888.90. The washer is the GE® 5.0 cu. ft. Capacity Smart Front Load ENERGY STAR® Steam Washer with SmartDispense™ UltraFresh Vent System with OdorBlock™ and Sanitize + Allergen, which costed $944.45. In 6 months two parts of the washer are not working. Not only is it not working GE and it’s warranty is BS. We bought this washer because our old Whirlpool washer had broke after 14 years. The GE had features I liked, so I bought it, not knowing any better. (Yes, 14 years Whirlpool lasted. Unlike 6 months of GE). So it breaks, it stinks, but not that big of a deal because it is still under GE warranty. We schedule under the warranty to have the GE contracted local repairman come out (he was great). Have to wait a few days in that schedule for the repairman to come look at the washer, okay again understandable. The repairman comes out. We explain to him that the electronic buttons on the front of the washer to chose settings to wash your clothes is not working sometimes but works others. We also explain the biggest problem of all. The washer will not rise the soap out of the clothes or the water out. (The rise and spin won’t work). My load of clothes before scheduling the repairman, my mother had to drive an hour to come get and take my clothes to her house to get the soap out of them before they were ruined. So the repairman finds the problems and says we need a new damper value for the soap/rise issue and a new front control panel for the electrical problem on the different wash settings. I could live without changing the wash settings with the front control panel, which I shouldn’t have to on a brand new washer. However, I can’t use the washer at all if it leaves all the soap in the clothes. So we find out that the damper value, the one needed to get the soap and water out of the clothes is on back order for 2 months. My finance calls GE and talks to customer service. They say they have 10 days to get you the part or they will replace the washer. I wasn’t thrilled with having to wait 10 days, but that was the only option. 5 days later we get a part in the mail from them that’s not the correct part. My fiancé again calls GE and again waits on hold forever. They say they will order the correct part and the girl he first spoke to was new. And now they say it is not just 10 days to wait, now they say 10 business days. Which is completely unacceptable to not have a washer this long! The very knowledgeable repairman calls and we tell him what is going on. He tells us that he currently has 4 of the same washers in his small area that have the same damper value issue. To me, it sounds like GE sold faulty washers. We call GE. I asked if they could just replace my washer since they do not have the part to fix mine, and I desperately need a washer. They said I had to wait 10 business days for them to try to find the part, when is the last sentence during the conversation with the GE customer service rep, they say the part is on back order for 2 months. How are they magically going to find my part in 10 business days, that they just told me in the same conversation is on back order for 2 months??? Sounds like they are just trying to have me give up and go buy a new washer myself. I suggest taking the part from a new washer to fix mine. They say they can’t do that either. They have given me no realistic options. So I agree to the only option they gave me, which is waiting more! They told me after the 10 business days wait that I will be allowed to file a complaint to try to get a new washer. After I will have to wait for them to approve my complaint and get me a new washer. Then I will have to wait to receive the washer. It sounds like it is going to be at least a month, but probably longer without a washer for me. I can not drive because of a medical condition, so I can’t go to the laundromat. I bought a brand new washer that was expensive, so it would work! I do not want have to bother anyone with washing my clothes. It is Christmas time and no one has time (nor should they have to) to take me to the laundromat. Also, I only have so many clothes. I am going on over 2 weeks of wait since I have first tried to schedule the repairman to come. Now they are saying I have to wait even longer to see if they can come up with the broken washer part before I can then file a complaint and request a new washer. I have no clean socks! I guess I have to wear dirty clothes. Insane!! I am so upset with this whole situation. I am writing this because I would have never thought not to buy a GE product. I want to let everyone that I possibly can know about my situation, so they don’t end up in my situation. A clothes washer is essential. Do not buy GE!
