Hiding your name from caller ID is easy

It is pretty common nowadays to hear someone say “UGHHH! 1. Go to settings
2. Tap Phone
3. Tap Show My Caller ID
4. Switch the toggle from green to grey.

TURNING OFF CALLER ID ON ANDROID:

1. Go to settings
2. Tap Call Settings (Under Device).
3. Tap Voice Call.
4. Tap Additional Settings
5. Tap Caller ID
6. Tap Hide Number

And BOOM you are anonymous!

So when I call someone I do not know, I want my phone number displayed NOT my name, unless they already have my contact saved. The iphone 12 "show my caller ID" function blocks ALL information, not just my name. How do I solve this? I do not want my name broadcast to every single entity I call but do want them to be able to call me back.

Is there a way to remove my name from this?

 Dial *67 to turn off your caller ID for individual calls.

Turn off caller ID for all calls on Android

1. Open the Google Voice app .
2. At the top left, tap Menu. Settings.
3. Under “Calls,” turn on Anonymous caller ID . If you want to show your phone number to people you call, turn off Anonymous .  caller 

How to hide caller ID on iPhone

1. Open Settings.
2. Scroll down to "Phone" and tap on it.
3. Navigate to "Show My Caller ID."
4. Tap on the switch to to show or hide your caller ID.

Update your display names

1. Go to your myAT&T Profile and select People & permissions.
2. Select Show details for the number you want to update on Caller ID.
3. Choose Edit for Caller ID.
4. Enter the info and select Save.

Good to know

• You may have to sign out and sign back in to see the new name displayed online.
• The Caller ID name displays on phones that have Caller ID. It doesn’t override a name saved in a wireless device.
• It can take up to 72 business hours for caller IDs to show an updated Caller ID name.
• People may need to clear your number from their Caller ID record for your new name to appear.
• Some home phone service providers may not offer Caller ID or get regular updates to their Caller ID info.
• For AT&T PREPAIDSM, the Caller ID name says Wireless Caller.

Why can I not just have the number displayed without any name attached? Switching settings to No Caller ID causes people with my number to not recognize the number either, which I do not want either. I just want a generic number displayed.

I’m dealing with the same issue. Please comment, if someone has figured this out. I don’t want my name to be shown when I call some random stranger. I found out when I met someone recently and he said, oh I can see your full name when you call me. I was like (Edited per community guidelines). This never happened when I had the XS. I got 13Pro now.

@Constructive  Yeah, I did see that post. But, I don't wanna change my first and last name on my caller ID to some random name. 
There should be an option to not display my full name when I call strangers without changing my caller ID name. Only my number should display when I call new numbers, and no names of any sort, especially when I call new numbers. Please let me know, if there's a way to block the name completely. I’ll try to call AT&T and see if they have any options too.

you put your number in the caller id instead of a name 

Same thing has been happening to me!! I call AT&T all the time and no one can ever fix it or know what I am talking about! Even when people call me I see there name as well and I want it to stop. I just want phone numbers.

Putting your phone number in the name box DOES NOT solve the issue mister “Constructive”!!! This because AT&T forces you to put in both first and last name! So, instead of being a weisenheimer lecturing if someone ‘even read your post’, you could address the issue to your technical support team so they can adjust this unwanted name displaying! 
because AT&T has not been successful in adjusting this mistake….

@Dodulation if you login to your account you can change what is displayed when you call, my caller id says batman when i call someone that doesnt have my number in their contacts but ha=ey thanks for signing up to the forums and single me out without you doing research, by the way were all customers here and they arent my support team.
