If a Roku TV’s remote is lost or if your Roku remote is not working, there is still a way to turn the TV on and off. The power button for Roku TVs is often located in very inconspicuous places – such as the bottom of the TV.

This article will show you how to find it and detail two other ways to turn your TV on or off without the remote. Let’s get right to it.

To turn on Roku TV without using the remote, find and press the physical power button located at the bottom-center, side panel, or on the back panel of your Roku TV. Read on to see the table we created to find the location of the power button on your Roku TV.

Press the Physical Power Button on Your Roku TV

How to turn on onn roku tv without remote

This is the easiest and most direct way to turn your Roku TV on or off without a remote. If you are reading this article, it is probably because you couldn’t locate it.

This is because the design trend among TVs (especially Roku TVs) is to hide the power button. Since Roku TVs are made by more than a dozen manufacturers, this gets tricky.

Sometimes the power button is located behind a flap, on the back of the TV, or in some cases, it’s behind on the sides.

To make your life simple, we dedicated multiple hours digging up the manuals of all major Roku TV manufacturers to find out exactly where the power button is located on the TV.

It is worth pointing out that powering off the TV using the physical button or the remote only puts the Roku TV in a low power standby mode. It does not entirely turn the power off. To completely power off your TCL Roku TV, you need to unplug the power cable.

Roku TV Panel Designs: The 7 Types

The way you power off the TV depends on the panel design of your specific model. There are seven kinds of panel designs on Roku TVs. Let us explain how to power your TV on and off for each of these panel designs.

  5. Five Buttons (with mute): Short press for turning the TV on and off (The order of buttons vary from model to model)

Use The Roku App As Remote Control

The alternative to powering your Roku TV on by pressing the physical power button is using the Roku smartphone app. Whether your phone has an IR sensor, you can use both IR and Wifi to control your TV. This is also a method we discussed to sync your Roku remote without pairing button.

The Roku app is available for both iOS and Android users. Here is how to do that:

  1. Download the official Roku app for the App Store or Play Store.
  2. Once you are in, it will search for nearby Roku devices.
  3. Once your Roku TV pops up, you can power on and off the TV by tapping the power button located at the top right of the app screen.

Note: We don’t recommend any third-party apps to control your Roku TV.

Find a Replacement Remote For Roku TV

If you have lost your Roku TV remote or is just not working correctly, you always have the option of using the Roku app, but it is never a long-term solution because it is a battery drain, and you might want to use your phone for other things.

So the best thing to do is buy a replacement remote. We recommend the official Roku voice remote because voice search makes navigating media much simpler.
