How to view wifi password on android 2022

It’s easy to forget the password of your own network, especially if you’ve just set it up. When such a thing happens, more often than not, your options are to call your Internet Service Provider or reset your router, which means you will have to set it up again.

But the good news is you can actually view Wi-Fi password by using a different phone. That’s what I’m going to show in this post, but I’m assuming that you’re using a phone running Android 9 or higher.

View Wi-Fi Password On Android Device

Time Needed : 6 minutes

Basically, to be able to view the Wi-Fi password, we will be using the connection sharing service that’s available on phones running Android 9 and later. You will also need another phone that's capable of scanning the code so that the network information will be displayed. Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Access Settings.

What you have to do is access your Wi-Fi settings. To do that, swipe down from the top of the screen and tap the gear icon.

  2. Open Wi-Fi Settings.

Now tap Connections, tap Wi-Fi and then tap the gear icon next to the network your phone connects.

  3. View the QR code.

At the bottom of the screen you should see a QR code, tap on it. As far as Wi-Fi sharing is concerned, you’re ready at this point.

  4. Scan the QR code.

The QR code is used for Wi-Fi sharing, so get your other phone and scan the code. For smartphones with a built-in QR scanner, viewing the password will be a lot quicker.

  5. View your Wi-Fi Password.

Once you’ve successfully scanned the code, you may have to tap the QR icon to view the information. As you can see, the Wi-Fi password is clearly visible.

  • Android 9 and later

Phones without a built-in QR scanner

If your phone doesn’t have a built-in QR scanner, then you have to download a scanner from the Play Store. Search for ‘qr scanner’ and look for apps that have high review ratings. In this tutorial, I used the QR Code Reader app by BACHA Soft (please note that we’re not affiliated with the developer of this app.)

Once you’ve downloaded and installed the app, open the scanner and scan the QR code. Most of the time, the information will be displayed immediately after scanning with the password clearly visible.

So now, you don’t have to reset your router or call your service provider.

There are QR scanners that don’t display network information so look for apps that do the job well. And also, Samsung phones with built-in QR scanners don’t display the password, they would just connect you right away to the network.

I hope that we’ve been able to help you with this quick guide.
